This weekend had to say goodbye to a 12 yr family member. I don't consider myself an overly emotional person but I am finding this exceptionally hard. This girl had been with us since my wife and I started dating. Moved with us over 5 times and saw both of my kids come into our home welcoming them like they were always part of her life. It is unbelievable how close you can become with an animal and how much of a cornerstone they can become in your family. Just wanted to pay a small tribute to her on here hope you all don't mind. RIP Mia.

Dogs become a part of us for so many reasons. From their capacity for love and understanding, to their never-ending devotion no matter what we have done in our personal lives. They are never judgmental towards us. And for me, deep down I've always believed that dogs remind us of the type of person we should aspire to be.

This past weekend was also my late bulldog's birthday - his 20th, and not a day goes by that I still do not think of him. They are amazing family members, and when they are gone it leaves a hole that is not easily filled.

I am sorry for your loss, but leave you with the wise words of Will Rogers...
If there are no dogs in Heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went."

Been thru it several times and it never gets easier. As hard as it is to say goodbye, the years of joy compensate some.

Sorry for your loss. When you lose a pet, you do lose a member of your family. It's always hard as well.

It sounds like she had a great life. Thanks to her family.
I'm very sorry for your loss.

No it's not..... we understand. I still miss ours very much, and love the 2 we've adopted since. You helped give your buddy a good life, that's all that matters.

Sorry for your loss...... To Mia, much doggy love and belly rubs...... RIP girl.

You and yours are in my thoughts. Losing a beloved family pet is a tough thing. Grieve, remember the happiness, and rescue another one.

Sorry to hear this. Pets are way better friends than people

She's on over watch now, she's still with you all in your hearts and minds.

I feel for you man and I'm sorry for your loss. I like dogs better than people almost without exception. I have a day like this looming and I'm not looking forward to it, but I'm happy while she's still here.

I'll shoot Bailey a text so she can watch out for Mia and keep an eye on her until you arrive. She'll be waiting at the bridge....Sorry for the loss....

I hate these threads and I am so sorry for your loss. Loosing a dog is often harder for me than loosing a person.

The bond between a man and his dog ...

ā€œWhen the Man waked up he said, ā€˜What is Wild Dog doing here?ā€™ And the Woman said, ā€˜His name is not Wild Dog any more, but the First Friend, because he will be our friend for always and always and always.'ā€
-Kipling

I'm so sorry for your loss. I've always had dogs and always considered them family members. It always stings to have to let go of them.

Itā€™s hard to lose them. We recently lost our almost 18 yr old cocker spaniel so I know where you are. Itā€™s gets easier but the Only way to not lose them is not have them and our lives would be worse that way.

I know too well how it hurts. Came home today and found my Gabby had died. She would have turned 8 next month. Best dog I ever had. R.I.P. Gabby.

She is still with you and always will be. I had a boxer for 12 years got him when I was 15 that was about 25 years ago he passed shortly after I married it was the first time my wife has seen me cry. I still think about the ole boy.

R.I.P. Mia

Sorry for your loss brother.

It's funny how attached we can become to our furry friends. I lost both of my Labs within a year of each other. Broke my heart. And I'm the tough guy who no one can read because I have no emotion or things like that(so my wife says). I am sorry for your loss. Try and remember the good times, and remember she is in a better place. Wish I could say more but nothing anyone can say will make things any better. At least it didn't for me.

Sorry for both of your loss. I have been through it six times and will never go through it again. I love all dogs.

Please don't look at it like that. There a WAY too many dogs that need rescuing! The way I look at it is this.... God has Blessed me with a precious gift and there will be a time when I have to give that precious gift back. There is no better hands to give them back to! Please don't miss out on the love!

Im sorry for your loss, we lost our beloved pitbull Honey, she was 12 yrs old, smart as a whip, some idiot went out of his way, off the road and onto the shoulder to hit her, we know a neighbor saw it happen, but no matter how you lose them it hurts. They are truly family,I miss her as I am sure you miss your Mia, I too took her loss hard, have comfort she is in a good place waiting for you on the other side, you are not alone, all of us who have animals in our life have lost some and we know what you are going through and how you feel, our sympathies are with you as are our prayers, a dog is truly a gift from God. Keep her memory alive in your heart and mind and she will always be with you.
