Smith & Wesson Brands, Inc. (NASDAQ Global Select: SWBI), one of the nation's oldest firearms manufacturers, announced today that it is moving its headquarters and significant elements of its operations to Maryville, Tennessee in 2023. Smith & Wesson has been based in Springfield, Massachusetts since the company was incorporated in 1852.

Mark Smith, President and Chief Executive Officer, said “This has been an extremely difficult and emotional decision for us, but after an exhaustive and thorough analysis, for the continued health and strength of our iconic company, we feel that we have been left with no other alternative.” He specifically cited legislation recently proposed in Massachusetts that, if enacted, would prohibit the company from manufacturing certain firearms in the state.

Should’ve moved a long time ago, but glad to see they’re finally pulling the trigger and openly stating that it’s due to MA’s anti-2A stance.
Of course the state thinks it’s great, but the areas effected by the loss of jobs, might actually recognize that it’s their politicians who are responsible.

To include the federal government
Sounds good in theory but that sounds like suicide for the companies… Short term financially, mid term legislatively, and long term financially to fight any legal battles.

Buck Knives did a similar thing. Left San Diego 15 years or so ago and moved to Idaho. The video they did about it is very interesting indeed. It is on youtube.

New England lost the cotton mills 150 years ago - and now the firearms industry. Other than libtards, what else does that region PRODUCE now? 🤨

Can we saw it off, let it float away in the Gulf stream, and return to mutha England yet? 🤔

~1:40 mark, are they moving from Connecticut, Missouri, or both.

It’s odd the Mass reporter doesn’t have that awful accent.
S&W is in Springfield (Western MA). No awful Bahhstin' dialect out that way, but they still use the term "wicked" a lot.

Idiots like AOC from Boston College.

I've always been baffled as to why major gun manufacturers exist in a number of nanny states. Glad to see that's being fixed!

It’s because that’s where the industrial powerhouses we’re located when this country first became a country. Back then we had rights and they just never moved. They always thought it would get better, until it didn’t. Noe they all just need to either bite the bullet and move or close up shop.

The guns we think of as western cowboy guns came from there. They were purchased for the trip west or bought mail order.

Anthony Imperato did a vid of why Henry will stay based in NJ, although he has some operations elsewhere like Wisconsin and a supplier in Pennsylvania. It's from 2015 and they aren't a huge corporate thing like the others. Don't know if he feels differently now though. Probably not.

With all that said, I'm glad that many have moved or started ops in more gun friendly states.
