So Academy Sports sucks too?

Ok, back to the fundamental question...

What's the difference between allowing the BG to walk out with the gun, and selling a gun to a felon, or someone who fails the NICS check, or someone who is purchasing for someone else?

That's what's wrong with the Academy policy... it is the same thing as making employees sell guns to people who are not legally able to buy.

Let's play what if for a moment.... What if Mr. White had been successful in stealing the gun, which was witnessed by several employees who did nothing to stop Mr. White. What if Mr. White hijacked my wife using said stolen gun 2 blocks away and then shot and killed her with said stolen gun. Do you not think that Academy and the employees aren't going to be named in the upcoming lawsuit. Their negligence and failure to act has resulted in the death of my wife. Deepest pockets first....

Unless they’re loss prevention it’s not their job.

IMO, it’s not worth losing your job or YOUR LIFE to do the Police’s job for them.

I know at Kroger only a manager or loss prevention can confront someone, and only loss prevention can put their hands on somebody. This is due to the numerous lawsuits and employees misidentifying shoplifting. Managers have to be 100% sure that the person is stealing. The problem is the litigious society we live in where juries award stupid amounts of money for stupid crap.

When there is a rule, and it's enforcement is Zero Tolerance, there is no need for managers, just rule books. No discretion, then no need for a human manager.

Atty for thief: "You assaulted my client, what are your qualifications and training in loss prevention"
Store employee: "Um, none but I did watch every episode of Adam-12, FBI, Cannon, Hawaii-Five-O TOS,
Mannix, Rockwell Files, Barnaby Jones, Gunsmoke, Petrocelli and Matlock."

Look at this little gem I found at the Academy in Winston. I asked the lady behind the counter behind it and she just chuckled and said “I didn’t do it, but I’ll tell the guy who did.”

I’m pretty sure it will be exactly the same next week.

So far I’ve been unimpressed with the Winston store. The GSO store has far more firearm related stuff.

I think he made a BIG mistake going back there. The people that fired him will be out to get him. That's just the way things work.
Then he would say “checkmate.”
Yup. He could claim retaliation and he’d be making quite a bit of money from the lawsuit.

As some know, I left Home Depot about a year ago.
They had a similar policy, which I hated.

While I dont like this policy/action that Academy has taken, I wouldnt say they 'suck' too or they are terrible/not worthy of my business etc

When they start pulling guns and accessories off the shelf, yeah, then Im done.
