So PSA is making a Glock clone starting at $299 (DAGR/Dagger)

So they took the hinged trigger everyone hates on the M&P, kept the grip hump many object to, brought back a finger groove we were finally rid of, and it looks like maybe lowered the beavertail.
Nice price point I guess. I'd probably save up a few more dollars and find another M&P.

This you can buy M&P Gen 2s in the $350 range. You get a proven platform from a company with great customer service and massive aftermarket support.

I would even pay $400 for a Gen 3 Glock over a $300 PSA WanabeGlock.

I think PSA has gotten worse and worse over the years as they transitioned from an assembler of parts to a full design and CNC manufacturing company. They don’t have the QC chops to get it right all the time. Lots of Monday morning and Friday afternoon guns ship out of PSA every Wed.

I think we have a member that “really likes Glock 19s”. Wonder if he will cheat on the old Gaston
Be still, my beating heart.

Forgive me, Father Gaston.

Small update in OP. PSA has said that, in addition to RMR cuts, there will be a "modular optics system". Sounds tasty.

Also, I wonder what "DAGR" stand for? Damn, Another Grand Robbed? Dumb-*** Glock Ripoff? Your guess is as good as mine.

Wait, no, your guess will probably be much better than mine.

Please put up with an Old Man's iggnernce. What is the reason money wise to build an 80% Glock? The Glock market here is always close to the $350 amount. Is there any way for somebody to "build" one for less?? This, by the way, from a person that has helped build 3....I just don't get it....

I’ve asked/thought the same thing many times.

Usually the answers come down to two things:
1. I wanted to make something myself because I like to do that stuff
2. Ghost gun

Seems it’s never about the money.

Novelty and ghost gun.

In theory if you're going to buy a glock and immediately break out the soldering iron and 'improve' it and swap slides/barrels/triggers/etc, why not start the build by not paying for any of the OEM stuff to begin with? Then you only have to sell your 'custom' for $800 instead of $1200 to get your money back out of it. :)

An "off the books" handgun. We should all have one.

PSA however will be selling complete "Glocks" for $299.

So everyone wants an off the book gun, but they are all over Facebook, Twitter and the Richmond event. o_O

I do not understand the point you are trying to make.

My confusion might stem from you equating "We should all have one" to "So everyone wants [one]" and those are two very different statements.

I might pick one up for the lulz. I’ll probably wait till they work some of the kinks out though. Price is decent for a range toy which is all I’ve ever chalk this up to be.

I'm thinking PSA alsohas an eye on a growing gun market with first time buyers. The more Bloomberg ads, the better for business. First time buyers will resist paying 550 for Glocks at their gun stores, but will have interest in a pseudo Glock for 250 less. They newbies won't take the time to research used gun values.

Saw an interview video from SHOT with a PSA guy. I liked what he said about this pistol, similar to their AR/AK options.

They want to sell enough of all of them so that they’re common enough it becomes almost impossible to ban them based on “common use” principles.

It also partly explains why stuff comes in and out of stock so frequently there. They have stated in the past that they decide the minimum amount of money they need to make on an item, price it accordingly, and then the faster it sells the better.

Looking at the frame, doesn't use the Glock locking block nor trigger design. More like a P80 locking block if not patented. Cut in bottom of grip is to rip mag out, another feature that isn't Glock. Stainless steel recoil spring guide and if standard rifling in barrel. Great for lead reloads. I would be very tempted at 300 bones.

CD
I think standard rifling would be a plus.

A few updates in the OP, including confirmation that the barrels will have standard rifling.

Here’s the video I referenced. Only ~10 minutes.

My point is that if you really think you have anything ‘off the books’ and you are using the internet and social media you are delusional. My guess is very, very few people are off grid enough to hide anything. You do know about that NSA data collection center in Utah right? Think that’s all that is happening?

Ok. Doesn't really change my view that we should all have one.

A cheap Grock copy with a hinged trigger and a built-in hand pincher dealie-bopper for yer sick reloadz? Made by the pinnacle of firearm manufacturers? THAT SEALS THE DEAL.

I AM GOING TO BUY TEN OF THEM.

Heck, I can print lowers and I've got plenty of stripped lowers waiting to be built. The main attraction for me is PSA flooding the market with uppers and driving their price down to something more reasonable.

More competition and more options is always good. If you don’t like it, don’t buy it. That’s how it works. I won’t. I don’t want a Glock of any kind, but I am very glad PSA is trying to push the market in a new direction - cheaper, with features people want.

Men, we buy Glocks in S.C. with only a handshake and a S.C. DL for $350 All The Time. That's about as Ghostly as you can get.
You should post this as a sticky in the marketplace under pistols for sale section. Some folks think glocks are worth way more than they are. It's pretty funny. Im about to get a like new in box gen 5 19 for 300 bones next week. I've seen folks wanting over 500 for a beat up gen 4. Boggles my mind.

Hell, this thing from PSA should make the Real ones even cheaper

Already did!
Unless you meant somebody else?
In which case, never mind. :D

Where do ya'll get the idea that they're going after Glock with this thing?
Because it looks like one?
My impression is they're going after the High Point.
Lets see..for another 50 bucks, I can get something that uses all the standard glock stuff, probably runs pretty good, sure-as-hell looks a lot better, and has a lifetime warranty.
The Glock believers aren't gonna go for this over their Glock, but as a budget buyer, these are all very real selling points..and the budget market is big.

It's also amusing that the internet thinks they know better than PSA. They assume PSA just up and says hey..lets drop a few million into this just because and see what happens.
That's what Colt does.
My bet is PSA has been thinking about this for years, has done a crap-load of market research, theory, testing, production feasibility, distribution networks, and aftermarket support and sales.
PSA can arguably be called one of the fastest and most innovative firearms manufactures going today with their finger on the pulse of the buyer, reinvesting in themselves and blasting the market with new product that's well received. They're not stupid ya-know...it's working.

This is what I was thinking, something that looks kind of like a Glock but at the high point SSCY price point should sell really well for that market.

No.

Not with PSA. Sorry

Was ALMOST on the AK-V bandwagon until a friend started putting a bunch of rounds through a new one recently and had a multitude of issues: top cover coming loose with the rear trunion eating into it, misshaped extractor causing tons of FTEs, extremely soft cast front hand guard pin sheared off and to top it off the magwell cuts are razor sharp

That's a lot of problems... some folks call me a gun snob. But im really not. I just have a preference for stuff that is less likely to have problems. PSA can be hit or miss. I like that they are doing what they are doing as far as offerings, but I feel it should be better quality. It doesn't have to be H&K, but better than they are now.

G22s for $350 all day, but I don't see any non police trade ins going for anything near that. Find me a G20 for that price (the only other Glock I want) and I'll eat my, um, well, I'll think of something.
