So what did I buy? S&W Revolver

Been on a revolver kick, and picked this one up today.

Advertised as a Pre War S&W M&P Target 38. It’s an obvious refinish at some point, and the grips are not original. Serial number on the bottom of the grip in the 373XXX range, no letter prefix.

Can any of the old...errr, educated guys confirm what model this is and any history?

Looks like a pre-Model 14.

Ahh, but this one is missing the requisite preceding letter. No “K” or anything before the serial.

After digging around a bit, I think it’s a .38 Military & Police model of 1905 - 4th change target model. Maybe? Serial puts it there anyway.

A big plus is that's in 38 Special instead of 38 S&W. I'd wager that it's a good shooter.

And adjustable sights!!!! Not many of those at that time in comparison to overall numbers. A 5 screw treasure!!

LOL, I did the same thing! Had to google it, I guess at an advanced age, it takes a little more to get a little puffy. Least it’s not a shot.
