I was in Lowes Foods yesterday and came across this stuff. I didn't have my reading glasses with me and I mistakenly thought the name was Sourdough not Soberdough. I really love sourdough bread. So I grabbed it up and headed for the checkout. Got home and realized it was labeled Soberdough.

My wife fixed a loaf of it today. In my opinion, this stuff is awful. The worst bread I have ever eaten hands down. There may be some on here who have tried it and liked it. No offense to those who have tried it and like it. It's not for me...... at all. It has Rosemary in it and tastes like turkey stuffing to me. Here's a pic of the stuff:

Put it in the freezer until Thanksgiving.... make stuffing out of it.

Or, put it in the freezer until Christmas...give it as a gift, like a fruitcake.

I reluctantly threw it out for the wildlife to eat yesterday. I figured at least the coons would eat it. I felt bad throwing it out there. I mean, I felt bad for the animals. That stuff is horrible. But it was all gone this morning so I guess the coons or opossums, or both, ate it.

If you're a sourdough bread fan, try the Boudin Bread Club. A little pricey but the best sourdough in the country. Mother dough is like 150 years old.

I'd be very happy if I could find a source for these. Lowes Foods used to carry them, but of course, quit.

Or a doorstop. But I repeat myself..

I'm generally not a fan of bread with beer..... Bad beer does not make bread better.
If we do make a beer bread I'll use a porter or stout.

Making your own sourdough starter isn't that hard... Just takes some time for a few days.
Once you get it going after a few days you can dry it out on a silicone mat and it will keep indefinitely, then just rehydrate it and bake.
