Social Security Scam

The latest for me was last Friday...I got a message from Verizon that my service had been suspended and to call them back, and they left a number that was close to the Verizon Customer Service number.

Instead, I called the usual Verizon Customer Service number (from my cell phone, which service had been "suspended"). Yep...it was a fake. Gave them the number and let them deal with it.

Have you tried Verizon's new app "Call Filter"? It blocks numbers that don't match their caller id. I've been running it for the last month or so. I've gotten one call that Verizon warned me as "possible spam" that I answered anyway (work phone). And it was.
It's a free app.

Millie, I’ve been ordered to dispatch operators to your location, if you send by .63 bitcoin I will send them to a different location, if you send 1.32 bitcoin I will update your record to show that you were killed in the raid and you’ll never hear from us again.

Not free, the actual service from Verizon is $2.99 per line, or $7.99 if 3 lines or more. The lame app that doesn't really block the calls, as your phone rings, it just displays a message it might be SPAM. The simple solution is to just not answer numbers that are not already in my contacts list. This can also be setup in the "do not disturb" settings.

I figured when the FCC said they would permit carriers to block SPAM and robocalls, that no one would offer it for free, which the FCC could have required. But when a corporate whore president appoints a former lawyer for Verizon to head up the FCC, rulings would always leave the end consumer bent over and holding their cheeks apart.

Thanks! It's on the way....lol.

Today I got a call with a recorded lady telling me my SSN has been used in crimes in Texas, and to call this number.

I did, and got a man who could barely speak English. He asked who I was, and I told him they called me, so he must know.

Had this same call almost verbatim about 6 months ago. Did not have my glasses on and made the mistake of answering the phone which is odd for me. Got a woman with the same spiel, but was stating it was my wife's SSN, which I don't have (a wife that is). Played her on but refused to answer any questions. Same outcome, end of call she was screaming at me and saying LE was being dispatched to my location. Told her to make sure they had a warrant and to go F herself and hung up. She actually called back to cuss at me some more. It was actually some of the best entertainment I had in a while.

Got a call today, it was my own home number! It really was Microsoft security calling to tell me my
IP has been compromised and they can help me fix it.

All our office phones are getting calls from Wake Forest or Hillsborough with a recording tha Google needs to verify our business or they will not list it.

Don't press any buttons on these robo calls, sometimes it will call a number outside the USA
and you will rake up international phone call charges while you listen to music on hold.

Call Filter is free.
Call Filter Plus is the premium version you describe and yes there is a cost for the premium version.

I think my dream job would be chastising these scumbags with a ball peen hammer. Hard to dial a phone with fragments for fingers.

New feature for iphone users sends unknown callers to VM. Been Using this and it has been wonderful.

The app from the playstore, yes free, and useless.
The service from Verizon is NOT free, have no idea how effective it is.

Hey guys, the SSA is sending the cops to arrest me now.....

I've apparently again rented a car and had drugs in it in TX, and since I "refused to cooperate" with the first Indian guy, they had another one call with threats....all I did was ask for the papers to be sent to my street address, as with all my dealings with the Social Security people.:) Hmmmmm.

I did record both calls, and no amount of reasonably requesting that they send all the documentation of my evil misdeeds made any dent on them, so they decided to have me arrested......wow.

So if I disappear, I guess you know what happened, right? I was arrested for drugs and money laundering in TX.

BTW, this is about the 5th such call in as many days......damn!!

They get flustered when you praise them for finding your cocaine, then asking where the other 10 kilos went, and inquiring how quickly they can ship it to you. Focus on the cocaine, completely disregard everything else they're saying.

I thought about asking about the goods, but they said they only found "residue"......I should have asked where the rest of it went!! It was 20 kilos the first call I got, when I posted this thread.

I sure do wish I had all this money they keep yakking about.

I'll ask next time where it went.

I thought that looked like your car on I-10 between Baytown and Houston.

If I don't know the caller I answer "Warehouse #12,
Code in please.". Most of the time they hang up, some try to talk with me, I repeat my phrase.

entertaining rainy day activity :)

They may have gotten the message at last. Just got another recorded call saying I had a SSA problem, hit 1, told the guy I got yet another call.....and he just hung up! Awww, where's the fun in that???
Aholes.

Next time you get a live one and you want to end the call ask him this:

"Hey my cousin wants to know what your mom is charging these days?"

Got a call today, it was my own home number! It really was Microsoft security calling to tell me my
IP has been compromised and they can help me fix it.

I tried telling them I have a Mac and Apple OS, but they just said, "yes it's the same message for IP compromise."

I asked one SS scammer, "So let me get this straight! The US Social Security Administration office is in Pah-kee-stahn?" He said, rudely, "Yes, in Pah-kee-stahn!" And hung up.

Another one I was transferred to I just said "Hello, hello" over and over in my best fake foreign language brogue. When he started "F you" I would repeat "F you" and this went on about 3-4 times and when I said "F you, Mujibar" he hung up. Mujibar is the Paki man who passed the Dell customer service English exam with flying colors, using the words pink, green and yellow in a sentence by declaring "when the phone goes green, green, green, I pink it up and say, yellow this is Mujibar."

The funniest thing that I can remember,is when the caller said his name was Bill and when I asked him to spell it,he put me on hold.

Tell them you'll start worrying when they find the body and not to call you back until then.
