Is complete garbage, we went to the one in Concord last night and the food is terrible. Wife got grilled Mahi tacos and the fish that came out wasn't mahi. We don't get down that way much so I don't know where the good places are.

Razzoo's Cajun Cafe will have you camping in the parking lot so you can have it again the next day...

We usually go there, but we decided to mix it up. Bad choice on our part.

The one in Fayetteville used to be good, but haven't been to the 'Ville in a few years. Authentic Mex it ain't, but pretty tasty eats regardless.

Never order Mahi(Fish) Tacos at a Mexican restaurant that's not located near ocean water. That's like ordering sushi from a gas station.

Whenever I'm up that way for lunch, I'll get a "chicken" breast sandwich at Iron Thunder. Not real sure where they get their chicken breast from, more like an ostrich breast, but it's pretty damn good fried and dunked in Buffalo sauce.

Well....no phone call for a dinner date was your first mistake.

I like jim -n- nicks, razoos, or......razoos.

It was short notice. I had no idea I would have to spend my Saturday driving to Monroe until it was time to hit the highway.

I have read that it is common that the fish you order is not the fish on your plate.

In On The Border's defense is there really such thing as a good fish taco? And in Charlotte? Might as well order salmon in Kansas City. Don't go to a strip bar and look for Rhodes Scholars.

I used to work with a guy that went into the fish business in Chicago. He basically sells fish to restaurants. He says you would not belive how much phoney menu items there are. And I have read that most people can't tell shark from scallops when prepared in certain dishes. I'd bet the offending fish tacos were really shitty farm raised Tilapia. Ugh.

If I can go to my local Tex Mex place in High Point and get a decent fish taco I figure the big city could offer me something. A friend of mine told me about Cabo Fish Taco in Charlotte and said it was awesome, just wasn't in that area.

Crap gringo food for gringos that have no actual idea what mexican or even real Texmex is, and don't want to know.

I was really just voicing my total distaste for fish tacos. Nothing personal. If I am going Mexican fish has no place. IMO itmis another bad idea crated by Californians! Damn them.

Bingo! Although every once in a while the American version is better.

Which place? Pancho Villas on Fairfield is pretty good.

I've had fish tacos at a little wall sidewalk cafe in San Diego. They did NOT use fish fillets like they use here. They used fish sticks. Yeah, like you buy in the grocery store. What we've got here is MUCH better!

Mi Pueblo beside of the Ford dealership on N. Main st. Sometimes fried, sometimes grilled just matters how I'm feeling. They also have an awesome shrimp cocktail.

The little Shell station right before you cross the Alligator River on 64 has the best gator bites in the world. We always stop heading to and from the outer banks. My wife thinks I'm crazy.

There will be a few of us showing up on the 11th around 4:30-5:00. As a matter of fact, you should see if you can find your pistol, blow the dust off, and come shoot rowan that morning and hit the smoke pit after!

I'll try to make it over for dinner but can't make the match as my daughter has basketball games on Saturdays until March.

Uhhhh, you went to the wrong place bro.

Not better here I am afraid.

If you are in the Concord/Kannapolis area and want some good fish, and fried pickles/banana peppers and jalapenos, look up Lake Todd Fish Camp. It is definitely off the beaten path, not fancy and is where the locals go. My wife and I go almost every weekend. They are only open Thur, Fri and Sat.

The thread title reminded me, so excuse the side track...

Coming back up I-95 North from a business trip. Stopped at the NC/SC line...you know the place...to hit the head. A short man walks up to the urinal next to me and says "Wow. What a week. My family has really enjoyed this park."

Talking with him a couple more minutes, I discovered they had spent an entire week on vacation at South of the Border. Those of you that are familiar with the place will understand why I was so amazed.

We now return you to your Tex Mex vittles thread.

Don, the wife got fish tacos at Mi Peublo for lunch today. I snapped a pic for you.
