I've spilled about 1/3 cup of powder on the carpet and am not sure the best method to clean this up. I picked up as much as I can with my hands but how to get it out of the fibers down to the carpet padding is what I need help with.

Invest in a free cardboard box. Big enough to cover powder work area. Cut to leave a 2” plus lip. Next time just dump out cardboard pan after an accident;)

But for now a vacuum will do

I have as much as can up using box tape. Is it really safe to use a vacuum cleaner, I have a Kirby.

Pick up as much as you can with masking tape and then vacuum.

This is how the clean up process proceeded.
1. Clean up as much as possable with box tape.
2. Place Kirby in room, adjust head height, plug in.
3. Go to neighbors house and enjoy a cold .
4. Wife vacuums carpet, afterall that is her job.
5. After finishing the , trturn home to clean floor and put vacuum away.

Life is back to normal.

What ... no sammich? At least she vacuumed ... :D

I don’t suspect a vacuum will cause any issue but if you have a wet/dry shop vac you could wet it down if you are worried then vacuum up the wet powder.

Use a vacuum. A few grains of powder aren’t volatile enough to hurt anything and even if they did ignite, the vaccine would lose its oxygen supply when you cut it off.

As long as you don’t spill some flints in the same place and vacuum them up with a vac with exposed steel parts you are fine.

Everything exposed to the airflow on my shop wat is plastic or the paper filter.

Once it's down in the carpet no one will ever see it. Problem solved. You guys sure do complicate matters. I have a man-cave and there are no vacuums allowed. Whatever hits the floor stays there. It's a guy thing so most of you wouldn't understand. :D
