Decided to complete this as a "CV-19 Project". What I wanted to do was to make the mount from 1/2" AL but never found a small peice. It was always buy 4x more than what was needed to get a 6"x2"scrap. Another project had a hunk of oak left over so I started working on that today.
Here's the prototype in pine:
Final product in oak. 2"x6"×3/4"
7/8" hole for the pipe, 1/4" hardware to attach the tripod head and clamp the pipe. I needed to increase the relief cut from 3" to 4" inch for easier clamping.
Many thanks to whoever I got the tripod gimbal(?) from, you know who you are. It was a while ago and I deleted the message.
