Before I do it, has anyone spray painted a PMAG, and what problems, if any, have you had with the paint coming off, if it did?

I've painted quite a few. It will eventually wear, but not fast. Wipe them down with alcohol first to get any oils off and go to town. I generally tape off the portion of the mag that goes in the magwell.

@BillWild , what was that plastic paint you showed me the other day? It was expensive, you need that :D

Good enough for me, goes in the magwell fine, ejects fine, feeds fine, ain't nothing wrong with it so far.15661699900007735533396868469688.jpg

Buy the Sand colored ones. Use RIT dye.

I know, but od green on black looks better, especially once it starts to wear, I'd rather see black than sand and od green lol
When you paint them, you worry about that. I don’t think there’s near as much worry since they’re being dyed instead. (Full disclosure, I’ve never done it)

They get in the plastic deep enough that it takes a pretty good gouge or cut to expose the old color.

You can dye FDE various shades of green. Get a pack of FDE floorplates, a couple colors of dye, and experiment until you get what you're after.

I’m lazy ... to color code for quick glance identification I just wrap colored electrical tape (or occasionally duct tape) around my mags. For date put into use and ownership confirmation I use a silver Sharpie.
