Springfield announced new line bolt action rifles

I wouldn’t mind trying one out. In my opinion all the other rifle manufactures have been watching the buzzards circling Remington for a few years now. So they are trying to take the place of the 700 action. Honestly it is a smart business decision, if they can get it right and keep cost reasonable.

Looks pretty interesting. Think it’s safe to assume the brake is easily removable to mount other stuff on the end of the barrel?

If it is as good as a Savage target action it might be a winner. Price point will make it or break it.

Looks like they start at $1700 non adj stock, SS barrel, +$575 for CF barrel.

I'm interested in one of these. I looked at them on their website last night and compared specs. They have a really nice comparison feature on there. The weight difference between standard steel fluted barrel and carbon fiber is 6 oz. Is that worth a nearly $600 premium? The adjustable stock adds 12 oz.

I am looking at the .308 here for comparison:

Total weight on steel fluted non adjustable is 6 lbs 15 oz. Carbon barrel brings that down to 6 lbs 9 oz. Adjustable steel at 7 lbs 11 oz and adjustable at 7 lbs 5 oz.

The one jumping out to me is the base model steel barrel.

Nice feature set at a decent price - for the intended crowd. For comparison, my $1,800 Tikka is considered a "budget" precision rifle by most.

Doesn't look bad for what you're getting. I would like to see one. For a factory gun the .75moa guarantee is interesting. Most of your custom built guns are 3/8" for under 308 and 1/2" for 308 or above.
