I picked it up about hour ago.

Manual of arms is wildly different from the AR/M16 platform.

It shoulders easily enough, trigger is long and mushy, then you hit yhe first stage, the second stage is decent, but nothing like what I'm used to.

I'll post better pics later.

And I did some experiments with other magazines, the mag well doesn't lock either Troy, or Thermold magazines in place.
The Thermolds are 20 round models.

the mag well doesn't lock either Troy,

Can confirm, just tried that in mine and it won't lock in with the Troy 30s.

I tried 12 different mag types, a variety of generic steel an aluminum including some PSA and my vintage pre-99 CA ban "USA" from midway, the Troy, whatever the Sig branded plastic ones are, magpul 20 (gen 3) and 30 (gen 2) and a little clear 10 rounder. Everything but the Troy worked.

Well almost, I had one unknown really heavy steel 20 rounder that wouldn't seat, but then it also wouldn't seat in my AR so I have no idea what's up with that one. Probably should just toss it, but who does that?

I'll try one of Israeli plastic 30 round magazines here shortly

Orlite magazines WILL seat, but with great effort, and not consistently.
So they're out as well.

And it might look a bit @$$ heavy, but the thing balances at the high cut out of the pistol grip, even with 24 ounces of Communist optic mounted on it.

Here's what has stopped me from looking any further into the Hellion. Shouldering my A2 and pretending the mag well was the pistol grip. I just can't handle that LOP.

It looks like it has a rifle grenade range ring on the barrel, or am I confused?

I think it could be, the thing is supposed to be compatible with NATO equipment, and some Allied countries still us rifle grenades

I had to do a bit of experimenting, but found a place where I could get proper eye relief with the stock let out to the second or third place, and have the in adjustment to make the proper eye relief wearing a chest rig, or body armor.
Just took a little patience.
And to address the length of pull, all that took was a little more patience to find the sweet spot in the five position adjustment.

Just tried a few other magazines out of curiosity, first one was a Daniel Defense 32 round, seated and released as easily as a standard USGI thirty round, and second was a Surefire 60 round magazine, same as the DD, seated easily, ejected as it should.
Gonna give the Magpul 60 round drum a go too, just to satisfy curiosity.....

The Magpul D60 fits, even seats with a slap. Only thing is it's kind of obtrusive in the chicken wing, if you get my meaning. But it's not much in the way either.

That reminds me again I need to scan those lottery tickets...

How does putting a new mag in work/ feel? It looks like I would have a hard time with my fat man boob in the way, lol. I am sure there is a way that works, it just seams cumbersome having to do it in my armpit.

I have a solution for you.

Go get a psychotically high energy puppy of your choice (I highly suggest avoiding anything with Husky in the bloodline, the stubborn nature will make you insane, trust me I know lol)

In 2 months surrender to the fact that you will have to walk the pup up to 2 miles, twice a day just to bleed off enough energy from the pup so it won’t eat everything in the house, then cut out sweet tea, and fatty foods, and in 18 months you’ll cut 50-60 lbs and the reloading issues are no more!! Its been 3 years and I’m down from 270lbs to 210lbs!

All that worked for me anyways lmao.

Here is the beast waiting for her morning walk…..

Once you get position of the mag well dialed in to your muscle memory, it's not too bad. Placement of the bolt release is what took the most getting used to.
