Springfield XDM Elite 3.8" 10mm

Anyone shot one of these/have hands on experience yet? Never makes sense to ask after buying something but saw one at the LGS today and figured it would make a good option when I don't want to lug the full size 10mm 1911 through the woods. Hope to hit the range this weekend and get a feel for it.

Picked one up last week. Couple of quick thoughts, the magwell seems to be a after thought. I have what I consider to be small to average sized hands and the magwell gets in the way. If they made the grip another 1/4 - 1/2 longer the magwell would have been perfect. After removing the magwell the grip fit much better. I did purchase 3 full-size magazines with the proper corresponding grip sleeve module and they make a huge difference. Shooting, I did not shoot it with iron sights, I put the Hex red dot on and headed to the range. It shoots like a dream IMHO, with both standard magazines and the full-size magazines. It is accurate, and recoil is not what I was expecting after shooting other 10mm in the past. I am planning getting up with @RR and have a chest rig made. It’s going to be a great hiking/camping pistol.
