It is VG-10 steel correct? Isn't that one of the "lower" steels use for knives?

Not really. It's a high carbon stainless. Japanese cutlery steel. It's hard and can take a very good edge, but will not be as easy to sharpen as softer steels.

Ah, perhaps that is what I remembered, difficulty sharpening! Especially since I can't sharpen a knife properly to save my life, lol!

Regardless, I got two. (One Delica and one Endura!)
Always loved Spyderco. Been carrying my original Native (CPMS30V) for almost 20 years now!

I carry a 1st generation Delica Clip It that I bought in the mid 1990's. Comes in really handy when a restaurant's steak knives are dull. It's done everything from restaurant duty to opening packages to gutting deer and just needs a touch up now and then. Bought it on a whim and it turned into EDC. Great knives.

Darn you people posting things I don’t *need*!!!

I’m a Spyderco fanboy. No other carry knives for me. I’ve carried a stainless Endura for 12 years now. Got a cheapo Tenacious all black for fancy pants office attire. Even the cheap steel models will take a good edge and keep it for a while.

Nice. I can't deal with that kind of lock though, the ease of one handed operation with frame locks have spoiled me.

You can one hand it. Just close it using your leg or other surface to push the back of the blade.

I have to completely change my grip to do so, it just doesn't do it for me. :)

Yeah but the added ninja flipping of the knife makes you look and feel like Bruce Lee!!!

I may or may not add a “wha-ka!” sound effect while doing it.

The Native is a great knife. My 1st geration GIN-1 steel Native is still going strong.

Just wanted to add some personal experience with VG-10 steel.

I have a Spyderco Bob Lum Chinese knife with VG10 and I have rode the knife hard over the past 10 years, for me the steel holds an edge extremely well “IF” you strop the edge after you sharpen it, I don’t have an actual “strop” so I use a leather belt and it works fine, it’s not going to get a polished edge but with a Spyderco Sharpmaker kit I can get the edge shaving sharp easy enough.

    Good luck!
