Trailer is about to be released.

Just bought three double feature tix to watch The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi back to back (in IMAX) on 12/14 with my wife and son!!

Probably go back and see TLJ again on Saturday morning, just to see what we missed :D

ETA: 10am on Sat for the second viewing!

I would like to be as spoiler free going into the movie as possible. I know I had a bit of a let down with Rogue One after deep diving into the trailers and behind the scene vignettes. I'm torn on watching the new trailer, and don't think I can quit the interwebs until Dec 15th. :(

My New Hope is that it's the last...Perhaps Harry Wan Truman will nuke them. You're our only hope Harry Wan!

Not seeing the tension between the light and dark sides of the force here. Didn't she beat Ren with zero training (also fixed a spacecraft with zero training, and also flew a spacecraft like an expert with zero training)? After with a little bit of jedi training, she should be able to dispatch Ren quite easily, unlike Luke, who required years of training, and even after training under 2 jedi masters, lost a hand in combat.

Politically correct space drivel I've never understood the fascination with either Star Wars nor Star Trek. To each his own. I hope ya'll have a great time and se some cool previews as well!

With an attitude like that I shouldn’t share with you the best Star Wars spoof of all time. Thumb Wars.

If there were thumbs in space and they got mad at each other.......

The trailer.

The full 30 minute feature film.

The newer spaceships practically fix/fly themselves. GPS technology came a long way in 2554 years.

You think its soooo easy! You don't have the Midi-chlorians to do any of that stuff!
;)

Granted, Luke was fighting the 'chosen one' who had the highest midochlorian count that Qui Gon Jinn had ever seen :D

Like with the more recent Star Wars releases, I will wait for it to come out on DVD to watch it. Hate going to the theaters these days with so many being inconsiderate (noise etc) to others who really want to watch the movie. I will forecast a DVD release date either Memorial Day or July 4th

You should go with me. My girlfriend will tell you I have a zero tolerance policy for people talking in a movie.

It embarrasses her. But nobody keeps talking when confronted with the beard, a S&W tshirt, and a 350 lumen light in their face.

"INTERESTING CONVERSATION YOU ARE HAVING OVER THERE!!! YOU GONNA FLAP YOUR JAWS FOR THE WHOLE &^%$&^% MOVIE??? YOU THINK WE ALL CAME HERE TO HEAR YOUR FAT MOUTH RUNNING, YOU RUDE AHOLE???"

That usually makes them disappear into their seat for an hour or two.

and the second thumb video was STILL better than rogue one.

and it even had donnie yen in it .....

im cautiously optimistic about the last jedi - but theyve let me down before.

Yes, I was very disappointed when she beat Ren. That would be like someone kicking Bruce lee's butt after visiting a dojo for the first time.
I thought it was totally unbelievable, even for Star Wars..

My wife is calling it, Rey is going to the dark side. I guess it’s true, you don’t go back. [emoji15]

I guess that means she will kill the tantrum-throwing pajama boy who is the current apprenticing Sith lord (per the "always 2 there are" rule re: the Sith). In which case, I'm good with it.

Based on the last part of the clip they either off Snoke or are going to try. Maybe Kylo pulled a Vader and offs him for messing with Rey. Already assessed the "Yoda rule".

I think Rey and pajama boy are going to team up and go 3rd party on the light and dark! The Green side? The Star Wars Rent Too Damn High side? The I'm Ok, You're Ok, Now Give Me All Your Stuff Cause I'm The New Universe.GOV side! The...oh, never mind...

Third parties rule so the light and dark side gonna get their butts kicked...and bump fire laser blaster stocks will be banished from the universe!!! Happy days and no need for Episode 9!

This was always my issue with the battle between them. He can stop blaster fire dead in its tracks but gets beat by a total novice?

What you fail to understand (likely as a result of your tragically male brain) is that women can do everything better than men.

This female parts scavenger can diagnose and repair issues with the Millenium Falcon quicker than Solo and Chewy. She can expertly pilot the Falcon because . . . vagina. So it stands to reason that the force plus the power of her vagina was enough to vanquish a sith lord in her first light saber combat with zero training.

Apart from its implausibility, the messaging is harmful to girls. Boys who watched Luke saw that he really had to work at it, which included failing multiple times, to reach a high skill level. This translates to real life. Girls who watch whateverhernameis see that she is instantly excellent at everything she does. Turns out real life is nothing like that!

You're correct. I was thinking with the misogynistic part of my brain or as I call it, the logical side. Still I'll take Rey's unexplained strength/skill over 15 seconds of Jar Jar Binks.

I dug up an old post I made over on the Canadian forum about this:

Possible explanations for Rey's rapid acquisition of the force (one or some combination of the following may apply):

1. Luke was a real biatch - "But I was going into Tosche Station to pick up some power converters!" Rey is not, as she's grown up fending for herself (yes, we have to suspend disbelief and ignore the realities of what happens to girls who are fending for themselves and not under the protection of adults; in real life she'd be groomed and passed around by Hutt pedophiles on planet Rotherham while the politically correct Republic's citizens dare not saying anything lest they be accused of Huttophobia, but I digress). So it's not inconceivable that a tough Rey, who already knows how to fight, can wield the force quicker than a limpdck like Luke, whose first crush was his own sister.

2. Luke's opponent was Darth Vader, who until the very end, had no inner conflicts, and was thus very strong in the dark side of the force. A biatch like Luke was never gonna beat a badass like Vader the first time around (here I'm referring to VADER of the original trilogy, not the prissy Anakin of Episodes 2 and 3). Rey's opponent, on the other hand, is a conflicted Marilyn Manson look-alike with regularly occurring premenstrual episodes, hence destroying First Order property on a regular basis (can you imagine Darth Vader having such hissy fits? I think not.). Not to be too hard on Ren, it must not have been easy having a father who was never around and was always off banging women in other star systems while being raised by effectively a single mother who was doing her best Ellen Ripley impersonation and leading a fight against the Empire. Tough Rey vs. prima donna Ren: Rey wins.

3. Rey may be Luke's child. While he was a biatch, he was also a Jedi knight. Legions of females of all species wanted to ride his lightsaber, so it's possible he has many spawn out there (and frankly, if there aren't, it's proof positive he's gay). And if she was Luke's child, it makes sense that she would be more powerful than Leia's child, Ren. Leia was sort of meh with the force, hence she never developed it.

4. Rey may be a child of the force, like Anakin. Remember Anakin's mother's immaculate conception story as told to Qui-Gon Jinn? Now it could be she didn't want to admit to a Corellian brandy fueled gang bang in the backroom of Mos Eisley with a group of Jedi knights passing through Tatooine, or it could be she was telling the truth, and the force conceived Vader. May be the same situation with Rey, which would explain why she quickly became powerful.

Keep in mind Rey was a stick fighter, which would somewhat translate to a saber. And Kylo sucked at saber fighting. The back story is that he's just not that good at it.

And outside the costume I'm not sure I would put Kylo in the Sith lord realm, he's still being groomed. And at the point Anakin crossed over he was a fully trained Jedi. Kylo is like a really tall youngling, well at least he acts like it. He gets bossed around by other first order guys for crying out loud. Those guys would have gotten a force choke for looking at Vader sideways.

Oh, and as an addition Rey possesses a jedi power that was actually banned from use by the jedi council. The ability to see into the past and future through objects people possess. That's what the basement scene in the tavern was about. So out of the gate she's got a lot going on but no idea what it is.

It's enough to drag me into my yearly visit to the movie theater.

we're officially in Last Jedi mode around here...just under 50 days to go...

Two weeks and 20 minutes before this one starts (and I'll have watched The Force Awakens in the same theater starting at 3p).

I stumbled across this video last night that I hadn't seen before. Watched it with wife and son (who are both bigger SW fans than me) and we all thought it was really informative. Fills in the timeline by linking all the canon.

26 minutes.

~15 hours until the Double Feature starts.

Just stopped by Walmart to get candy and jerky!! :D

Anyone seen it yet? Good bad?? Im hoping to go Monday to see it.

Going this evening.

I’ve been avoiding spoilers this whole time, but I’m afraid Star Wars is going to get the Disney treatment and make it into something not Star Wars.

I hope I am wrong.....Star Wars was a huge part of growing up for me, I enjoyed the EU in my 20s, and TFA was a bit of a letdown (the only SW movie I’ve ever only seen once in the theatre - I haven’t even opened the BlueRay copy I own).

So by the end of tonight either Star Wars continues for me, or the main storyline will be complete with 1983’s Return of the Jedi.
