I know nothing about a Steiner Scopes. I got a friend that is looking at the Steiner T5Xi 3-15x50 scope to deer hunt with mainly.

Is it worth the money or what other scope would you be looking at?

I have the T5Xi 5x25....

1. The reticle gearing broke on Shot 1 of the 2015 Guardian Competition. This was the first run of the new scopes....
2. After the drumbeat of bad reviews and not tracking and breaking, they finally set up Customer Service for returns.
3. I got a brand new Scope with updated internals.... Works perfectly now. I love the SCR Reticle... it is awesome.
4. Scope is clear, wide field of view and I like the Turrets to tell me where I am at.

The one thing I have noticed is that the tube (34mm) is oddly shaped and can be difficult mounting for eye distance. It is like the Knobs are too far rearward or forward to where I run out of distance between rings that would fit normal scopes.

Is it worth the money?... eh.. I would look for a good used one online with the Steiner Logo on the Knob Caps (2nd Gen) then see if it's okay.. if not, send it to Steiner and have them replace.

Depends on what you get it for.

I have one of the Steiner P4xi's and it is great. No complaints. The only thing I would consider for a hunting scope is weight. It seems that Leupolds are normally a bit lighter than the Steiners and other mid to high end scopes. But if he is taking a 4 wheeler to a blind and sitting there all day he may not care about weight. The Leupold's also have their CDS option which seems nice.

I had one of the older steiner military scopes and it was great. No real experience with the newer gen stuff.

Steiner owns Burris. Alot of the times the more expensive Burris scopes have the german glass in there.
