Sticker Shock!!!!!

If you want a Garand get to know the civilian marksmanship program. They are still the only place you have a fighting chance of buying one for under $1K. Remember people do buy them from CMP just to turn around and try to double their investment on gunbroker.
Is there a specific place I should go look or just do a google search? (Any tips?)

I have only had 2 mosins. One was in nice shape with the round receiver that I sold to a guy at work for $200( I payed $100).

The other was a very badly worn hex receiver. The last 10" of the barrel had a the rifling worn out by I'm guessing a cleaning rod, no sights, most of the bluing was gone and a badly cracked stock. I'm not ashamed to say it was cut up. I had the barrel cut to 20" and threaded with a brake and it was tapped for scope mounts. It sits in a archangel stock and has a Timmy trigger. Currently at my Smith having a new set of iron sights fitted. It's just a fun rifle to shoot. You can hate me if you want :)

I still want another mosin but finding a decent one for not insane $ is not easy. I also want something in 8mm just because :)

I have had a C&R FFL for 20 years so I have seen the full spectrum of pricing. Most of my Mosin Nagant rifles, 91/30's, M38's, M44's I paid between $59 and $79. So yes they have been a good investment I guess but like everything when the supply dries up and demand remains high price go up. Back in 2000 it looked like the supply of Russian weapons was endless but eventually those supplies have run dry. Ivan's not making anymore.

Unfortunately these were all lost in a tragic boating accident on Lake Baikal........
