Ok it's their time of the year again and they won't let you forget it.
I work in all kinds of homes, from shacks to mansions. They're in every one of them. They will find their way in.

Even the hospital I work at often gets them, but they're quick to vac them up.

My brother was visiting from California couple weeks ago. He grabbed my outdoor broom and was about to knock down a spider web on the porch.
Leave that alone! Besides the inside of the house, it's the only thing I've ever seen trap a stinkbug.

My wife made up some kind of homemade spray for them. Doesnt kill them, just makes em stay away.
She sprayed all the door/window frames and the back deck. Some still make thier way in, but not nearly so many. The mostly stay off tbe deck, too

How much for the recipe?

They'll eat the caulk around your windows & doors.
We learned this when my mother discovered wet wood inside and found a lot of water damage all over the house.

Lol... Who told you that? This is how internet rumors start...

With or without the lighter in front of the nozzle?

Never tried it with the lighter.

Just spray em...doesn't matter if its chlor or non-chlor, both seem to work well.

I've tried Wearever (Advance Auto brand), CRC and Valvoline...

My research so far shows that Wearever has the quickest kill time.

They also eat the filaments from incandescent lightbulbs. Stinkbugs are the reason the world is changing over to LED bulbs. LED bulbs render them sterile so changing over will eventually rid the world of stinkbugs.

Turns out, it's just garlic water. Couple cups of water, tablespoon of garlic powder, bring to boil, then remove from heat and bottle up in a sprayer.
She sprays the doorframes and the deck around the table and chairs once daily. She does the windowsills once every three or four days unless she is opening them to air out the house. Then she does whatever windows she opens whenever she opens them.

I had one land on my grill lid last night as I was making burgers. It was a pleasure to watch him fry on the lid. :D:D:D

I just tried it.

Now the house smells like an Olive Garden.

Found out at work that alcohol will take the stink away if you get it on you. Just trying different things and saw a can of wipes. Wish I had known all along. I hate the smell.

That has the added benefit of keeping vampires away as well.LOL

Itā€™s what the contractor & exterminator folks told her.
Maybe itā€™s just eastern Tennessee.

Lies told by salesmen... They're just scaring women into opening their purses...

I have to fight crap like that all the time when I get terrified calls from my clients. It makes it tough to be a contractor with so many scumbags out there...

I donā€™t really mind stink bugs. I kinda pity the silly little bugs that just show up, chill, donā€™t really do anything. They donā€™t scurry around and look nasty like roaches, donā€™t swarm like ants, and donā€™t eat the house like termites. I just put em in a napkin and throw them back outside.

Must make your house smell good.

Homemade spray with rosemary and mint will keep them out too. I don't much mind them, but the dogs are horrified.

To me, they smell like Balistol, which I like. I know, I'm weird.
Cutting line in kudzu is where you run into clusters of kudzu bugs; imagine an extra strength stinkbug grenade going off.

Alchohol at work???...Cool! Y'all hiring?

Remember when you were a kid and there was no such thing as ā€œstink bugsā€? (Assuming youā€™re not a millennial)

https://extension.psu.edu/brown-marmorated-stink-bug

Most people in the US never saw one before the 1990s.

That map is interesting. I never thought about it before today, but I never saw a stinkbug as a kid, and almost never hear of them back home. But here in Hillsborough, they're everywhere.

Every fall, they get into my office and my house. They manage to find a way in. Every now and then the dogs will eat one, then barf it back up. Stinkbug dog breath isn't pleasant at all.

There are native stink bug species. Saw them as a kid working in my momā€™s garden, but they werenā€™t everywhere like the brown marmorated.
