Curious what you gents are doing about your guns in your safe - do you keep them in the factory cases or do you put those boxes elsewhere and put the pistols in the little pistol pocket holders on the door to the safe?

What Im finding is my safe is getting too full, but Im keeping mine in their cases with the mags etc

Silicone treated gun socks, then they are laid in a pistol rack. On a horizontal shelf in a typical size safe, i would imagine it would fit 20 or more handguns.

Silicon socks here too for long guns and handguns. No ammo for me either but i do store docs and valuables in there too.

I think I posted this before but somebody might find it helpful in this thread.

Cheap guy that I am, I came up with free pistol socks. Whenever we have a holie bath towel, my wife cuts it up and makes it into various sized socks. These are 100% cotton and quite thick. Instead of worrying about silicone, I just wipe the pistol down with a rag, sprayed with Corrosion X and kept in a baggy in the safe. Then the pistol goes in the sock.

No boxes. I keep those in the attic.
I keep all accessory clutter out of the safe, and that includes ammo. The only not-gun stuff I keep in the safe are a few holsters that match the guns that I carry.
This ^ all day long!

Guns in pistol racks, the boxes are in the man cave out back, mags are in a homemade door storage system, supressors have their own Pelican cases they are in.

Gun socks for anything with wood. The plastic can fend for itself.

When I had a safe and lots of guns, I kept them in the boxes because I didn't have to worry about them getting scratched/bumped when going in and out and I didn't have to buy a bunch of gun socks/holders/racks/etc. At the time, all of those factory boxes...many of them Colt..were worth a lot of money. I kept the ones I used separate from the ones I collected to further avoid damage to the boxes. They stack better in boxes too.

Out of boxes and in material full length sleeves sprayed with oil.

Metal, in cheap gun rugs, wrapped in a cloth with some G96 or CLP on it. 35 years, no rust, no scratches. Plastic in the rug alone. They go in like books on the shelf,..
