Wondering if anyone here has experience with any of these ? How they compare to other PCC's? I'd rather not SBR, but will probably have too. Want to shoot the occasional local PCC match with it. Looking for something "different" and softer shooting than an AR9.

I have a Scorpion pistol, my 8" barreled 300 BLK with hot rounds has less recoil than the Scorpion. They're within 1/4" of each other in length.
You may want to also look into an MP9 copy, due to the delayed bolt opening.

I've had Scorpions and a couple Extars.

Scorpion is heavier than I think it needs to be. Recoil feels harsh to me because of that massive bolt.
It has a massive aftermarket though.

EP9 is a pussy cat and the recoil buffer makes it feel like it rocks you back and forth rather than just have all the mass slam backwards like most blowbacks.
Almost no aftermarket, numerous proprietary parts. Cheaper though.

My Scorpion is one of the most fun, reliable guns I've ever owned.

My AR-V was an utter turd and couldn't make it through 10 rounds without misfeeding and FTE where the brass was so stuck you had to mortar it out. Went back to PSA and they "fixed" it. Still not reliable enough to be anything more than a range toy.

Akv is fun and reliable. Probably not any "softer" as it's a direct blowback gun. It's fairly chunky and has a decent rubber buffer setup. I wouldn't say recoil is heavy but I don't have any other 9mm pcc to compare it to.

Cost of MP 9 and expense of mags, tax stamp, stock, etc. are probably more than I'm willing to spend right now. Think I can scratch the itch much cheaper. Just trying to decide how "cheap" I'm willing to go. I'm a bit hesitant to SBR an Extar or Utas 9 given their price point.

I have an EP9. They recommend no lubricants. It's all polymer except for what absolutely has to be metal. I don't think there is any metal sliding on metal in the design. They say you can use very small amounts if it makes you feel better, lol.

It is super light as you would expect and that is not to be discounted. Runs great and is fun to shoot but it usually gets forgotten and left at home because it's my bedroom HD gun. Which is probably a good thing because it's not an heirloom class weapon. I don't know how many thousand rounds it has in it but I consider it to have a fixed lifespan, not unlike other gear I've got $ invested in though. The advantages of light weight, compactness, and low maintenance are worth it to me.

ETA: Being a member of FPC and other gun rights orgs covered by the brace injunction, my EP9 is still wearing its stock brace. I really believe the brace ban will be shot down very soon, but if not I think I will sell it and start looking at bullpups rather than going the SBR route. My CX4 16" carbine is also relatively short compared to AR based designs due to the magwell being in the pistol grip.

@Dr. Death has an akv. Joker liked to go full fun on its own 😂

Ungodly heavy but they shoot really well once the trigger is swapped.

Have you considered a Beretta CX4. It's different and the recoil impulse is better balanced than a standard heavy bolt/heavybuffer AR9.

Stribog A1 and BT GHM9, I like them both. No interest in SBR (for now). My CX4 is also nice to shoot.

My AK-V Is my favorite guy to shoot. It is direct blow back but the recoil impulse is much more pleasant that my AR9. Mine has been 100% reliable with ball FMJ ammo, flat nose bullets like the fed Syntech won’t feed in it though.

About the “full fun” @Squanchy mentioned. It prob wasn’t actually shooting full auto but more likely bump firing. For some reason this gun is the easiest thing to bump fire I have ever seen and just everyone I have let shoot it, inadvertently bump fires it the first time they try it. My first mag I sent a double tap that sounded like burst fire, but I knew what happed and quickly figured the trigger out. My buddy shot it next and sent about a 5 round burst. The fudd RSO at the range we were shooting at came flying over all in a tizzy.

I wonder if there wouldn't be a fairly simple way to use a gas cylinder to delay chamber opening. Think walther ccp or h&k p7
I know it would have to work completely opposite the way it does in those tilting barrel pistols, maybe more like a piston design, but backwards from that too

I think the big price difference on the Century Arms are threaded, versus unthreaded barrel. I don't love the price or the lack of a LRBHO on the MP5 clones. As for the Beretta, just not my cup of tea. I just sold my AK, AK pistol and 22 trainer, so I'm reluctant to go with the AKV and the trigger issue makes me more reluctant.

Anyone have a SPA3 Stribog with curved mags? Was leaning toward this with Glock mag lower, but heard reviews that said the original curved mags worked better and were easier to get in and out of the gun, which is cool, since I prefer the look of that lower anyway.

Akv is perfect with the alg trigger I haven’t had any issues since I swapped it. But your welcome to come try mine out if your ever in the Knoxville tn area

AKv is super fun, I don’t get to shoot mine enough.

The only other 9 PCC I have personally owned was a CMMG radial delayed 9mm using ARC mags. It was nice, and fun, but ultimately felt like just another AR.

I sold that off and got an MP5 clone instead, because I consumed too many 80s action movies as a kid.

I think I’ve on most of them on the list except for the scorpion. I like shooting the AK-V the best. As mentioned before, it is probably one of the heavier ones of the bunch. But it soaks up recoil and points pretty naturally for me.

I had a ton of glock mags already so the Extar made sense. No regrets with it. The recoil impulse is softer than other blowback PCCs I’ve shot and the thing is incredibly light.

If I didn’t already have an Extar, I’d be saving for the MKE MP5 or one of those CMMG radial delay guns. They shoot softer and suppress better.
