We have clear and concise rules in BST, and I'm not trying to start anything, only offering a suggestion.

It would be nice if individuals, who are not deemed to be vendors for flipping lots of stuff, would be limited to a number of posts at one time or encouraged to combine WTS items into one posting.

We see a few selling 5-10 items back to back. Can we not ask them to aggregate them into 1 listing? A rule that says if you have 3 or more active postings in one section of classifieds you will need to combine them. In the new rules, it also mentions they can be flagged as vendors at the discretion of admins. If they were forced to pay or consolidate, I bet it would clean up pages, and actually make less work for mods.

Maybe I'm missing something or am uninformed, if that's the case just ignore or delete the post.

This is something that bothers me as well, BUT I remember it being discussed a couple years ago and the majority disagreed with us.

I like how on some other sites, non-vendors are limited to X listings on the first page. I think that’s a reasonable middle ground.

To be clear, my issue isn’t that if you’re selling an entire large collection you must be a vendor, it’s what I see as inconsiderate to list 14 Glocks & 7 1911’s all in separate threads vs a Glock thread and 1911 thread.

I like what you are trying to do. But I think there would be issues with the staff naming someone as a vendor without a FFL. I think the ATF would use that to prosecute members for FLL violations. There are few that flip enough I think the ATF would want to interview but it’s not our place as a forum to help them do their jobs.

So. Many. BST.

Not all vendors sell serialized items that require an FFL.

I can tell you this is a topic that has been discussed recently. Currently trying to see what features are available to not make it involve manual work by staff. May or may not happen, but know this thread didn’t trigger any changes that come. 😝

Might be easier to add a search filter that excludes the BST. So you can see new posts minus BST.

I would think this place would be a great source for the ATF for finding gun sellers with no FFL. 8 listings at once? I would bet a judge would not let that one slide. After one guy listed all those guns I think I attempted to ignore the whole handgun sale section.
When I first joined not long ago and started reading the FS post I thought the exact same thing.

Just another view. One forum I'm on allows multiple items in one post. But only allows one post for sale within a 24 hour period. Additionally vendors are not held to that rule.

So what we need is a report button...
Report directly to ATF..... LOL

It is kind of crazy some of these flippers and asking crazy prices and making up BS like being a correct grade M1 when it is a lower grade clearly with mixed parts.

Since sold item posts are not supposed edited/deleted, the posts get messy/unclear with multiple for sale & sold on one post.
I prefer separate posts for separate options.
That's the seller's problem in my opinion, messy ad and I'm not reading it...you edit your post and remove pics and adjust.

Unless I’ve misread the rules and never had my hand slapped, there’s nothing against editing the thread. You’re not supposed to delete content or pricing.

I always mark individual items sold as below, either strike through or by writing “sold” immediately after the price.

Ex.
Magpul 30rd Pmag $10
G17 OEM mag $20 *SOLD*
G19 OEM mag $20
Ar15 Barrel $120

Deleting the price always irks me. I like to go back and see what stuff sold for and can’t do that when the delete the price.

One member does it EVERY TIME and it’s annoying. Mainly because he sells most of his stuff at crazy stupid low prices and I want to know how good a deal I missed 😂 I have him on alert but still seem to miss it.

oh sure, you guys are aaaalllllllll against too many BST posts right up until somebody finally posts a good deal. Then we all fight over who gets to snatch it up.
Man i wish more good deals were closer.
