What works? What doesn't? What ya take?

My list:
Protein shake: why? Extra protein.
Creatine: It pushes nutrients into the muscles and promotes muscle growth.
Fish oil: anti inflammatory
Multivitamin: vitamins. Yeah.

Supplements (all of them) have potential side effects. Not saying don't take them just be cautious of what you put in your body. Know the potential side effects, how to watch for them and how to counteract them if they occur. If you take something with multiple ingredients, read the labels carefully and research all of the ingredients.

Creatine, for example, can cause hypertension.

Currently, I take a multi vitamin, vitamin E and a power stack supplement from my health food store.

I'm also doing some research into SARM's (Selective Androgen Receptor Modulator's). They are a grey area body building supplement. Originally developed to counteract wasting disease and fight effects of AIDS. They give most of the benefits of steroids without most of the negative side effects. Notice I said most.

They are a grey area because they are legal to buy (labeled "not for human consumption" or "For Lab Use Only") without a prescription.

But I am having a hard time finding good solid data on the ingredients and potential side effects because they are a fairly new item and not enough research has been done.

Edit: I also drink a protein shake every morning mixed with bullet proof coffee.

Leave it to Chad to find a quasi-legal AIDS drug for a health supplement...

Everyday -

Vitamin D
Zinc
B Complex
Glucosamine

Creatine 5-10 grams a day

20-30 grams of extra protein in a bar
40-60 grams of extra protein in liquid form during the day
Pre and post workout simple sugar/protein drink (30 grams protein)

Caffeine...
Protein Powder, Usually Optimum Nutrition Gold Natural Vanilla, been using the cinnamon roll / latte with energy blended into Keto coffee in the AM thought to try and stay away from milk, I can't do protein in water... it's nasty.
Coconut Oil
BCAAs such as Optimum Nutrition Amino energy, etc.... cause tastes better than water alone.

I get my vitamins from food, I don't knock anyone who takes a MVI, but it just makes expensive urine.

I tried the Pantothenic Acid thing but didn't see much results and was tired of trying to down pills everyday to get to the effective dose.

I had the same problem with protein powder in water and I need to stay away from milk.

Try what I did. Make a cup of coffee with 1 tbs grass fed beef butter (Kerry Gold Unsalted) and 1 tbs coconut oil.

Put that in the shaker bottle with your protein powder.

That's what I've been doing in the AM.... works pretty good and keeps me full

That's a lot of sugar there.

This guy is a doctor whose opinions I trust. http://www.barbellmedicine.com/about-jordan/

At the bottom of that page you can see a picture of him deadlifting 705 pounds. Clearly this man knows what it takes to get strong.

He put this supplement together. http://www.barbellmedicine.com/product/gainzzz-rx-watermelon/

He says it's got everything in it that will actually help you based on verifiable studies. I'll be getting some of that.

I work outside, so Vitamin D I get plenty of from the sun.

Creatine has never messed with me before. Fish oil was recommended by my doctor.

Protein shakes in the evening after lifting, cause my diet sucks, if I ate right I wouldn't bother. Whey 30gr., not enough to put on mass, putting on mass sucks, I've done it before, makes eating into work.

Creatine, same reason someone listed above, post workout.

Multi and glucosamine, cause diet sucks and abusing joints was(is) a hobby and profession.

Vitamin D because my real job has me working evenings. I have taken MV and glucosamine off an on. Off right now. The last time I took a MV it had the energy boost in it. Coincidentally my BP was getting better but I ended up with heart palpitations from the meds. But I stopped the MV first, then cut my meds in half later. Now that my diet has changed to keto I have stopped my BP meds entirely and see no reason for an MV. I'm eating enough meat I don't see additional protein doing much. And I'm more on keeping what I have instead of bulking up anyway. I'll throw some Peanut butter in a smoothie when I make them to get a bit extra.

Caffeine
Coconut oil - mostly that just goes in my food when cooking eggs
Org whole-milk Kefir - I guess that's kind of a supplement

I try stuff on and off, but I mostly don't take anything. I'm using Zyflamend right now but I think it's a waste. I won't buy it again. I used to formulate supplements. I started that whole SARM thing back in the day, my first product was out in late 2009. I won't say which company I worked for but I did marketing/advertising and a lot of product formulation. - IMO, SARMs have some good research, but the cost far outweighs any benefits. It's just not worth it IMO.

I used to take anything and everything in sports supplements. I got most of it for free from reps and friends that worked in the industry. I don't want to say it's "all bs" but it kind of is. People will publish one research paper and then some company runs with it and hopes it's a fad. That's all. Most stuff with great benefits is more of a long-term thing. Food is the real adventure and has the most benefit.

D-aspartic acid
creatine

Those are pretty good. Vitamins when your diet is lacking. Anti-inflammatory herbs in food like ginger and turmeric.

I'd rather have $20 in steak than protein powder these days.

That and it seems like the next step after a nutrition Ph.D is to develop and market a wonder diet/product.

I used to use protein (ON Oats/Whey) to adjust protein levels toward the end of a day as needed, but recently I've found that setting up with a protein-heavy diet means that I need that very rarely.

I may pick up glucosamine again - there are some studies suggesting minimal effect, but I know enough old broken folks who *swear* by it that I may roll the dice.

Yep. That Rhonda Patrick chick seems intelligent. Seems like a nice person and has good motives, but she seems to run with any positive research she finds. She doesn't market or sell any supps but now she is real into the collagen peptide stuff. Would be awesome if it was legit but seems pretty ridiculous.

I keep it simple.
A regular 50+ old man multi
Gluc/Con for joints
Fish oil.
Coconut oil to get my fat calories up and homeopathic characteristics of the oil.
Muscle Pharm Combat protein (Has multiple sources and release rates, plus BCAA's) plus a Veggie powder before swimming. All of those calories are burned <1/3 of the way through.
Sometime Amino Energy.
Beet root powder (not that super expensive SuperBeets)
Hemp oil, natural anti-inflammatory.

In the morning, I take a fish oil capsule and a MV, some Amino Energy and two BCAA capsules before a workout, then a Syntha-6 protein shake after (work out days). Cardio days are just the BCAA/fish oil/MV. Lunch and dinner is another fish oil/MV each and I drink an ON Casein protein shake an hour before bed.

Just picked up a big jar of Muscle Milk protein powder. I'm doing a fruit smoothie on my evening off after our kettle bell routine. First routine I didn't and I was sore for 3 days. Next routine I added some from a single serve pack along with some almond butter. Barely sore at all the next day. Tonight I added home made almond milk, yogurt, cantaloupe seeds and about a scoop of Muscle Milk to the smoothie. I'll find out tomorrow.

I just take whey protein isolate, vitamin D, and vitamin C. And the protein was free from work! We use it as an ingredient and had a damaged bag, so I got 50 lbs. of high quality protein absolutely free! Can't beat that.

Well, I had gone to black coffee on the keto diet. I had added some honey to it to see if it would help with my allergies. Meh, not really. On a whim I tossed in some of the Vanilla Latte Muscle Milk into my coffee the other day. I've found a new creamer. lol Started tossing it in the blender to mix the powder up better. Tasty.

I was shown that by a team mate a while back. It makes for a great pre-workout - just be careful it doesn't blow up your guts on squat and/or deadlift day.

Picked up some MCT oil today. Going to give it a go. Took some before I went to work and I did seem to be less tired later in the night.

We have a local health food store run by a 7th Day Adventist, Herb's. That place is awesome. They had 4 different kinds of MCT. Tons of protein variations. More supplements, vitamins, and such than any store I've been in. A dozen different kinds of honey. And cheap packs of large spices when I'm canning or doing sausage. Great place.

That's where I get a lot of my vitamins and such as well.

Foods will supply all of the nutrients necessary in the western diet. The less processed the better and if you are trying to gain/lose weight keep a journal and get a food counts book. Average protein intake is recommended to be 1gm/1kg(2.2lbs) if your trying to gain weight, lean weight. If you weigh 150lbs you are probably 100lbs of active tissue and 1gm/1lb is adequate....100gms protein. Supplements used to have a (PER) or protein effeciency rating to rate the quality. I always used an albumen(egg white) powder in milk x3 daily along with normal meals and got me through competition years. Whey proteins are also great but stay away from anything soy as it elevates estrogen and you will basically turn into a libtard in a vagina suit!

caffeine in a dark beverage brewed from roasted and ground arabica beans.

I used to ingest nicotine with the assistance of cylindrical pulmonary nicotine infusion devices, but gave that up due to the side effects as someone mentioned above

dropped the whiskey last week and started a feel-good t-bosting stack for myself.

d-aspartic acid
MAN NolvadrenXT
DIM
Cayenne
Dopa mucuna
valerian root
vit D3

about a week in. feels good. I'll just be running the d-aspartic for two weeks and then I'll probably throw in just a natty t-booster/libido booster like NOW testojack. Continue to run the DIM.

Apparently most of the men in Stockholm are pansies if she thinks he's abnormal. No wonder American men get the ladies attention over there. lol
