Suppressor/HD weapon storage

As to removing a suppressor if used in home defense ...

It is my observation that my spent suppressed brass defers from unsuppressed. Those from suppressed firing seem to have quite a bit more carbon and such on them. While it might not be as apparent to the county crime lab I am not sure the risk of altering the firearm used is worth the risk they could catch on? While a suppressor would not change a thing about why you had to fire nor the lethality of your shots how would the legal system and possible jury view the altering of the firearm? To me I’d leave it attached ... lose my $1,000 (and 6+ months for a new tax stamp) ... face the “used an silencer” to kill tagline by media and liberal prosecutors ... rather than give ‘em anymore fuel to try and fry me with.
