I live only about 1 hour away from the Nags Head beach area and was thinking about trying my luck surf fishing. I don't have a 4 wheel drive vehicle but I do have a partially disabled Wife that cannot walk very far and I found Jenettes Fishing pier that might suit all our needs. It would have a bathroom for her and I could throw out my surf gear as we sit on the beach. Anyone have any luck fishing this part of NC ? There is another suitable for her called Coquina Beach, where there are bathrooms but its a bit of a hike from the road to the beach itself and was wondering if the fish are there more as you go a bit South? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The walking would be good Physical therapy for the Wife and the beach fishing would be good for me. Available bathroom for the Wife is real important.

The old Oregon inlet bridge pier is nice. I think they have porta pottys on site.

Same with the pier at the eastern end of the Washington Baum Bridge.

Both are free.

Planning on heading over there tomorrow and check things out, maybe bring a dog and just take a walk and talk to people fishing. Then believe half of what I hear because all fishermen lie, except for you and me and I'm not so sure about you.

I don't lie about my catches there all this big šŸ«ø-------ā€-------------ā€--------------------------------------šŸ«· šŸ¤£ and the few that have got away where even bigger I've never lost a small fish. Can't help recommend any good spots around nags head but a bad day on the water is better then a good day at work.

Just don't try beach driving in a 2x4. It'll be a long expensive day if/when you get stuck.

They public beach access at Jeanette's is probably the nicest one in the area. Definitely the biggest.

The fishing typically gets better the farther south you go towards Hatteras, but of course you have to drive more and the amenities drop off that way as well. I've never had any luck at Jeanette's, but like I said the facilities are super nice.

Let us know how it goes, and go to Sam & Omies for breakfast if you can.
