El cheapo 8.5" 5.56 AR pistol from Palmetto State Armory finally made it to the range. As received the lower was well lubed but the upper was dry as a bone. Inspected cleaned and lubed the whole thing, added my red-dot-sight and BUIS and went to the range. Tried random odd lots of .223 and 5.56 I had lying around.

Much to my amazement every single squeeze of the trigger went bang without any FTE FTF FTL, etc. It worked 100%

I'm pleasantly surprised after reading the low regard with which PSA arms are accorded.

For $500 can't go wrong.

Thanks for the review. I've been looking at the 300blk version of this.

I have two PSA builds on Anderson lowers and I’ve never had any trouble out of them. Great value and quality. Thinking about one of these pistols.

All of my PSA products have worked like I had hoped they would. I keep talking myself out of one of those AR pistols. I don't know how much longer I can listen to me.

Stand up to yourself! Don't be a pansy. Just do it!

The PSA sales since Trump was elected have been irresistible for me, including one pistol kit that I put on one of their lowers.

I think the "low regard" for PSA has been overstated for about 3-4 years now. They're solidly in the good value (rather than entry) level these days.

Over the last 5 years, ive built probably 7 AR's using them. Some stayed 223, some I turned into grendel's... never had any issues out of anything from PSA.

They got their QC up to par before their CS, now both are good to go.

Thats true. I think it's pretty hard now a days to find a poorly made AR or parts... if you do, you must be SUPER CHEAP. There are too many quality parts to be had for good prices. Unless you're a rifle snob and have to have a Daniel Def. which even then, probably isnt any more reliable than a PSA

I’ve got an upper I built with a 16” mid gas PSA 7-62x39 barrel that shoots 1.25” groups with Wolf SP, and just under 1” with my handloads. I bought a PSA 16” carbine gassed upper for $150 shipped a couple months ago. Added a BCG I already had, and a Bushnell red dot. It’ll shoot the center out of a target at 50 yards.

I understand that PSA is manufacturing their own nitride barrels now, and both of mine are great. I’ve never had any problem with any PSA product, and I’ve bought plenty.

I just ordered a blemished lower and an upper separately. Hard to beat for $400. I'll let you know how it shoots.

I have a sneaking suspicion PSA ships more ARs and parts than any other "manufacturer". When you move more volume the same failure rate looks worse because there are more of them out there and more opportunities for someone to decide to post their experience to every forum on the internet.

I've used many parts from PSA, assembled one AR pistol with their upper, and one 1911 off their frame, shot and handled many PSA kit built ARs, never personally known anyone to have a major issue, hell I never even experienced the atrocious shipping delays they were known for a few years back.

anyone here been to the stores in SC...Ill be passin by one next month is it worth the detour?

I am ten minutes away from the Mt. Pleasant, SC store. They have a good amount of guns and ammo all for good prices. Plenty of accessories too. Staff is super nice. If the person does not know the answer of what you are asking, they will find another person who does.

I believe some of those complaints come from people who don't know what they're doing when they assemble. My LGS says he's fixed quite a few for people.

I bought a complete rifle from Carolina guns and gear in Asheboro a few years ago. Took it home to shoot and wouldn’t cycle for anything. I got frustrated and put it up for a few months and tried again. Same thing happened so it went up for a while. When I took it back out I started trouble shooting and found a loose gas key. Called their customer service and they gave me a run around about the lady that looks up serial numbers being on vacation and they couldn’t help me. Said call back in two weeks. Finally got around to ordering a new gas key and bought a punch to stake it. That fixed it but put a bad taste in my mouth for them.

All but one of my AR's have some PSA parts in them. Some are All PSA except for the lower. I've not had any trouble out of any of them, and all have given me good accuracy, and none have jammed on me either.

I have had 2 uppers come with slightly canted FSB's, but they were still within milspec tolerances.

Back when we lived in Canada I badgered one of our (now former?) members to explain his gripes about PSA and it was a real issue but seems like it was a manufacturing defect long addressed. It was all pms and I can't recall what the issue was, it was bolt or feed ramp related. I trust my PSA for it's intended purpose of punching holes in paper and otherwise standing around.
