A couple years ago when my guys were 8 & 10, we took them to Universal Studios in Orlando for a spring break trip.

They've talked about that trip pretty much non-stop since. They seriously bring just about every conversation back around to "remember when...."

I'll admit that it was the best vacation we ever took. I wanted nothing to do with it. Crowds, lines, bleeding cash....none of it appealed to me at all. Until we got there and just had a blast. They have it all figured out.

Well, I've been traveling a bunch for work lately, they boys have a 4 day weekend...so we have it all planned out to surprise them.

Mom has been "grumbling" for a couple weeks about how much I've been gone and wouldn't it be nice if we could all just tag along on my next trip. I've been building up a "quick trip, just a 1 day meeting" near the beach. So, we have the boys (10.5 & almost 13 now) convinced that they're joining me on a biz trip this week. They think they get to lounge at a hotel pool and just hang out. Not terribly excited, but happy to tag along.

We are hoping to carry the ruse all the way to the resort door. Our fake destination is Kissimmee, FL so the signs for Orlando/Universal won't be out of place.

I'm super excited. I'm hoping this is one of "those" moments that they'll always remember!

Ok ... Whew. This is in the public forum..

Way to go Pop. They are gonna wig out

Have fun, we lived outside of Tampa for 15 years.
1.5 hours our door to Mickie's door.
The oldest ended up working there for a while.

Does universal have a meal plan? I know the Disney ones are well worth it.

Yup. We’re doing the meal plan, stay on property, the whole dealio. It really is the best way to go. This time of year it’s (relatively) cheap.
