Bought a sight from Ncvarmint and thought today would be a good day to install it. I didn't have a brass or aluminum punch so I went to Lowes and bought some aluminum bar. I cut a piece off, deburred the end and clamped the slide in the vise. Having watched youtube I was confident that this would be a quick process and I'd have my new sight mounted before lunch (it was about 11:45). Yeah that didn't happen. I beat that sight so long and hard I had to put a fresh end on the "punch" 3 times. Total movement <0.5mm. I tried both directions as well. Now I knew the Shield rear sight was notoriously hard to get off but this was a 2.0 full size.
I didn't hit the slide with a torch. I didn't freeze the slide.
Besides those two things any suggestions how to get the sight out of there?

Wonder if the 2.0 is tighter.

Goes off toward the ejection port.

Make sure to strike parallel to the slide cut, the further from parallel the less work your blows do. Usually once they start moving they go pretty easy. I know no tricks. Best of luck.

I was supposed to mail mine to a member but wound up needing it for a shield sight install, he said he doesnt need it now anymore. My sights should be here next week as per XS. If you still need one for this by then I can mail it.

Buy. A. Sight. Pusher.

< this guy went through several sets of night sights on his Shield by doing it the caveman way of beating it with a punch. Coulda bought a sight pusher and an extra set of sights for what I ended up paying in friggin sights.

Did I mention BUY A SIGHT PUSHER?!

Or at least find a Smith who can do it with a pusher for cheaper.

But seriously...buy/use a sight pusher.

All this talk about sights and i remembered I wanted to drift the sight on my mp 2.0c so i figured now was a good time. Unscrewed the set screw on the sight and loaded it in. It was tight but once I broke it free had no trouble moving it over just enough. Now I gotta get out and shoot it.

Supposed to be clear and crisp tomorrow. Should be a good day to put some rounds through your 2.0c.

Hahaha of course it will be beautiful.... because my wife is going to a conference and ill be stuck with the kids for 4 days with no escape. Go figure :(

Sounds like a personal squad of brass hunting minions!

Haha man I cant wait for that. I dont know if the range would be too happy about a crazy 2 year old running around picking up brass but that would be a funny sight
The reason I wanted to swap the sight today is that tomorrow a fellow club member has offered to work with my daughter to improve her IDPA scores. She's 16. You'll be surprised how soon that 2 year old will be heading to college.
