I set out to resolve an issue with my grip. Because of how high I am over the safety, I ride my slide. I don't feel anything despite the sharp serrations cheese grating over my thumb but have slowed my slide to a noticeable degree. Figured that the cyclic rate is hurt if nothing else and a reduced chance of a failure were both good enough reasons to warrant a purchase (not that reasoning is needed). That is when I happened upon the Swenson. I read that the finish was rough and that substantial fitting may be required. The price diff between it and the few others I found was substantially lower but still overpriced IMHO. I wanted to go with a safety because machining a slot for a shield into my frame scares me. I placed an order and when the part came in I would describe it as pot metal. It wasn't just rough, it felt cheap. Worse, there was a major structural deficit in the left side shaft that meets to pin the grip safety. I am waiting on a Pheonix Trinity safety now and will submit a comparison upon its arrival.

Just figured id share.

Swensons are notorious for being rough.

I welded a shield on mine... I forget the brand.

I like that! The Pheonix looks awesome and I can't wait to see it in person and get it fitted. Rough I can deal with. I would have polished it but pre-broken out of the box is a QC issue.

Took about an hour to fit taking my time. It mated with the right side STI Factory safety which was what I had hoped for. I plan on selling the other side to a left handed 1911 shooter.

Very pleased with it.
