Looking at smaller 357 options. I've got a full sized 357 (Taurus 608), but was toying with the idea of something either mid sized or down in the snubby range. Wouldn't be a carry gun so the mid-size makes more sense perhaps but there is something 'cool' about the snubbies.

Anyone shot/owned both the taurus 605 poly and an LCRx in 357? Thoughts?

It isn’t much help, but shooting the LCR with .357 was one of the most unpleasant shooting experiences I’ve had.

I've had both..... nothing wrong with the Taurus but fit and finish on the Ruger is better. The biggest difference to me would be the trigger, Ruger wins by a mile.

SP101 with a 3” barrel if it’s not a carry gun.

Oddly I've been looking at those, and the GP100.

I ran some timed drills with my 608 today. Double action + 357 mag is not nearly as easy to shoot fast as my G34.

Heck..my Sis has a 327 magnum LCR and it's jumpy as hell too. I put a pach grip on it. She says it's much better.
The grip that Ruger puts on these punchy lil bastids is a cruel joke. They leave you with virtually no control no matter how white-knuckle you grab the thing.

Yup...

It’s been a few years, but a friend of mine bought one for a hiking gun. I hadn’t shot one so I met him at the range after he bought it. I saw him shooting and flinching really bad and struggling with the recoil. I chuckled to myself about my sissy friend...he then handed it to me and I squared off against the targets thinking “I’m gonna show him how a man fires this thing...”. kAWHOOOM “Ouchdangitwhattheheckwasthat!”

I fired the rest of the cylinder, turned to him and said “yeah...it has a little attitude behind it...let’s shoot some .38 and see...”

The GP is too close in size to your Taurus, unless that’s what you want. But for a compact 357 that you can carry and actually shoot without crying, the SP is hard to beat, especially with the 3” barrel.

It's not, I must have my models mixed up. I'll be paying much more attention to every wheel gun at the next gun show, getting an actual hands-on feel for what's the right size for me.

I did fire a few cylinders of 357 out of a LCR with the stock grip, can't recall it being all that unpleasant, but I do remember it would be impossible to get fast follow up shots trying to keep it under control.

I like the stainless 605 easily concealable but you definitely feel those .357. The poly one is probably rough to shoot
