Tavor x95 vs FN P90

Tavor- is in a useful, affordable, commonly available rifle caliber, lots of good accessories, can replace the trigger, good configuration options. And it does useful rifle things out of the box.

P90 is in an expensive .22 Magnum equivalent rare expensive caliber. Not very modular, can't do what rifles can. Its only advantage is small size, and to get there you have to SBR it.
After reading this I envisioned you dropping the mic and walking off stage.

I have an x-95 - wanted a piston driven platform when I lived in a sandy urban environment. I still like to shoot it. Had to get a Ruger 57 when they came out but about the same time the 5.7 x 28 (which was already expensive) went through the roof. Going to sell or trade it when I get a chance.

lol you might have a chance now!

I shot a buddy's Tavor in 9mm once. That was a neat toy.

Not really in the same Venn circle... but I tell you one thing.. the PS90 in close quarters is very adequate.

It is a super-.22wmr; but, there is a big difference to the sound downrange vs. any other caliber I know. I have hit steel at 200 yards with it and the first thing you recognize is the sound of the flight. The second thing you realize, that steel is ringing louder than I have ever heard.

Tavor? meh? Ain't good enough for the Lord's people after 10 years... ain't good enough for me.

One of these saved dozens of worlds and galaxies from the Goa'uld, Replicators, and Ori.

Here's a small demonstration:

The lack of a fun switch does kind of ruin the fun/usefulness of the P90 but it's still fun to shoot if you can ignore the 75 cpr

I own the Tavor, ARX-100 and a Kel-Tec P50 pistol, Kel-Tec will have the carbine kit (16" barrel and folding stock) available in 2022.
All fun to shoot.

I don't understand the premise of this thread... They are both different "tools" for different purposes... It's like saying what is the better wrench, adj. crescent wrench or oil filter wrench?
Curious. When would you chose a 16" barrel PS90 over 5.56mm 16" barrel bullpup?

Never. TBH both are bastardized versions of the original to comply with stupid ATF regulations...

That withstanding, there is more to this equation than barrel length... the 5.7 round & P90 combo was developed for a very special purpose, allow rear echelon troops to penetrate Soviet body armor should paratroopers suddenly drop behind the lines. I'm dubious that the COTS ammo that is available for 5.7 would penetrate any serious body armor currently in use by law enforcement or even civilians. Therefore, from a practical standpoint I really don't see the purpose of anything 5.7 for a practical purpose.

A X95 will easily reach out to 300+ and beyond and remain effective. A P90... not so much.

Now, if it's just for 2nd cool and fun, yeah it is a neat round and a neat gun. But pretending like they are in the same category or classification of "tool" intended to do the same "job" is absurd. Therefore, I still don't understand the premise of the thread.

Copy that.

I did some unscientific tests with 5.7's at my range years ago. I have a FiveseveN pistol and 16" PS90. The 5.7 was extremely underwhelming against soft body armor, kevlar helmets and most other mediums even with the "LE only" stuff - I forgot all of the cartridge specs years ago. After the tests, I was disinterested. Only out of a 16" barrel did it do OK - but that barrel length defeats the purpose of the firearm.
