Texas man shoots robber holding wife at gunpoint

The husband shot the man who held his wife once in the head, injuring the man critically, but not killing him, according to KHOU. Police found the attacker lying in the couple’s driveway.
That's going to leave a mark.
Good for him staying in the fight to protect his wife.

That’s a good reason for going to the range and using hostage targets. Hopefully he succumbs to his head wound because if not the Texas taxpayers will be paying for his care until he bites the dust. Scumbags.

What I'm wondering is whether he got the best sex of his life that night for being a hero and saving his wife, or had to sleep on the couch for taking that shot in the first place!

Methinks the best sex was not that night, but the next.

Ah, LAPD hostage training. Shoot through the hostage. That's a really big bore pistol.

We did a IDPA practice one time where we put three targets close to each other, sometimes overlapping. The hostage/no shoot was identified by a red bandana, which we moved around while the shooter was turned. The shooter would get focused on the bandana and the bandana wearing hostage would get shot almost every time and often leave the bad guys unshot.

I have read that you should train to make head shots at 50 yards. All I have to say is if any of you are hostages and I am the one 50 yards away taking that shot you better duck and cover.
Nah...safest thing is probably to just stand still where we are. :p

We tell everybody that if the local LEs are shooting at you..Stand Still..if you move around you might wander into a bullet.

Nice shootin' Tex, you need to replace the 9mm with a 40.

Nah , I think it’s just that certain people just have a lot of empty space in their head. My buddy(a sheriffs deputy) shot a guy in the head back in the 90’s with a 45 ACP. It did stop the guy immediately, but he is still kickin. Brain damaged but still alive today.

It was more of a tongue in cheek comment :)

Here is a variant hostage situation... Practicing hostage situations with a shotgun..... USPSA target and an 8" steel plate..... NO pellets in paper or the exercise is a fail.
