The Future Of The "New" Remington

They'd have to pull off some kind of dazzling success before I'd ever buy anything they make again, other than ammo.

I shot a v3 a few years ago and loved it but didn't buy it due to the downward spiral the company was in. Might be interested again if things are good this time next year.

I’ve never been a Remington hater. 870’s and 700’s are both proven workhorses and I love all of mine. The XmarkPro trigger flaw was a tough blow that they handled but I feel it some people used that as an excuse to shun the entire brand. I hope the new owners stay true to their word and the company prospers again.

I really want them to get it rolling again. The V3 is serious competition for Benelli imo and I'd like to see one in 20 gauge. Not to mention I'd hate to see the 870 go out of production. I have enough to last me several lifetimes but I'd like the option to buy new ones.

To me, the appeal of Remington and most other manufacturers that operated before WWII is their vintage iron... not much new stuff turns my haid. It doesn't much matter to me what they do with the corporate shell.

It’s difficult to be a new-age Remington fanboy when Ruger, Tikka, and a few others put out rifles that are as good or better for the same cost or cheaper.
This is where I am. I’m a modern gun guy, don’t care in the least for old stuff or the brand’s history. When it came time to buy a bolt rifle, I assumed I’d buy a 700 but ended up with Savage. Now that might be Ruger. Rem isn’t even a consideration because I’d either get something nicer for the same or less, or spend a little more for something much nicer.

That said, I do hope Rem is able to turn it around.

Same. I own one R700 that was a hand-me-down from my FIL and it’s old as dirt, but in fantastic condition and is a quality build. Oldest kiddo will be using it for hunting.

My pops hunts with R700 and has a R700 223 bench gun and both have been flawless, despite both being manufactured during the past 5-7 years. I’m sure like most things, the quality issues with Rem have been exaggerated via the internet. I don’t pass on Rem because of their quality, but because in the past 10 years lots of other companies have given me reasons to buy their product instead.

Sounds like VC folks did a typical crap before these folks. Buy a company, saddle them with debt and dump it. Happens a lot.
The old Tyco International did that.
Sounds like the new guys really want to get Rem back on mission.
The first shotgun I ever fired was a Remington 1100. Fun, given that it was a right handed and I'm left handed.

I dealt with Remington (Cerberus... aka The Freedom Group) as a supplier for them. I made products that specifically went on government issued rifles. I never had an issue with the products Remington made, only the management. They compiled as much debt as they could and then wrote it off. Leaving companies like mine to hold the bill. It was only because of social media that Remington paid me the thousands of dollars that they owed. Many people reached out and told them what they thought. So as far as the new Remington, if they build halfway decent firearms, they cannot get much worse than the predecessors.
