The Houston ATF’s office recently posted a photo of an agent either blatantly ignoring – or not even knowing – basic firearm safety.

My question would be ; why are they shooting those weapons to begin with ??? They are not used by the agency and I doubt they are personal weapons.
Do they get to play with the weapons they seize from citizens because they are too dangerous for us to possess ?
No doubt it is listed as ‘familiarization’ so they can operate all those WW2 era weapons they encounter in their day to day work.

There's a thomson there too. Are those open-bolt?
I Googled it, the Thompson Submachine Gun operates on a very simple principle. It is an open bolt weapon. That is, when the weapon is ready to fire, the bolt and working parts are held to the rear. When the trigger is pulled the bolt goes forward, feeding a round from the magazine into the chamber and firing it.

Im honestly having a real hard time getting worked up over this picture.

OH NO! I'm loading a magazine IN FRONT OF the unloaded gun!! The Horror!

The agency that is supposed to regulate firearms is being sloppy AF at best..
There is no excuse for the mess on the table or him having a firearm barrel pointed right at him while he is loading the mag..
He should have walked around the table and loaded on the other side

Ignoring basic firearm safety rules are how people get hurt

Ok

The ones pointed at his balls an MP40?

What do you guys do at range when you have to go down range to check targets/groups?
Personally, I lock all my guns in the car first. After putting them in locked cases, of course. And, I make sure the muzzles are not pointing at me from the trunk.

So I guess you all never walk in front of an unloaded gun at a gun shop?
Most are chamber closed and you don't know if they could have a round in them. Most also always have a magazine in them......

Yeah that was my take.

Whole lotta reasons to hate the ATF but I can’t see this as one.

The mess on the table is making my OCD act up tho.

It's pointed past his hip, ya’ll just want any excuse to check out somebody elses junk and gripe about government agencies.

I realize pointing in the opposite direction but makes me think of the guy who blew his arms off with a shot gun resting like that.
wat?

anyway, one time i was at a gunshow in the "expo area" of a giant indoor flea market. On my way out I was carrying one long guns on each side, each pointed at the floor with the action broken over my shoulder. People were just about diving to get out of my way...
all I could think was "these are obviously not ready to shoot... you oughta be worried about the on in my waistband that security didn't know about"
So yeah, always keep a cheap paddle holster in your car so you can throw it on and say you left the gun locked up in your trunk, and nobody will think to search the rest of you for other guns.

The mess on that table is making the vein pop out on my forehead and my left eye twitch.

Gentlemen, may I present the "armory" of ODA 31XX? I offered to spend an hour cleaning it up and organizing it.
