Inspired by @thrillhill recent thread,
https://www.carolinafirearmsforum.com/index.php?threads/wtb-smith-wesson-k-frame-wood-grips.17028/
Got me to thinking.

Why is it so hard to find a decent selection and/or supply of K Frame grips?
And in full disclosure I've hated this for years but My Gawd man this is ridiculous..
They made over 6 million model 10's! I mean dadgum that's just model 10's and don't include all the other K's. And they're still out there it's not like they dissolve.
Oh but if it's a J Frame I can get custom engraved cat-ass inserts on rhino hide, tomorrow, for 40 bucks.

I demand someone tool up and make me some awesome K Frame grips. I know what I want just not sure which one it is. Mostly cool wood stuff that gets the chicks, but might be lookin for some kind of rubber GI Joe kung fu grip, maybe you can woo me with G10.
But I will never need any Ho stuff like pearl or chrome or zombie thank you.

I haven't got time to sit here and hash out my nute details. Now get to work.

I have a bunch of really nice K Frame grips from Badger Grips. The owner, David, is a nice guy too. I buy some finished and others unfinished so that I can hit them with Ting oil. Quite a lot of J frame and Colt D frame grips from him too.

I figured you'd be along shortly.
Good. If anyone has shopped for these things it'd be you.

I have quite an assortment of K frame grips. I'm not in a place where it's easy to post a lot of pictures right now. Here are a couple that I snagged from my Photobucket account. I will supplement this thread heavily in the next few days when my schedule lightens up.

I just got wood too!

There's tons, yes TON'S of aftermarket grips but the factory originals (so a gun can be returned to original) are becoming scarce and in some cases unobtainable. And don't you dare need a grip screw.....

Regarding grip screws, I've found that most are just a standard size screw. You might need to cut it to the correct length, but a "real" hardware store can match the screw diameter / thread count. Just recently recreated Jay Scott and Barami Hip Grip screws.

Did you just post up Ho grips like that?
There were clear instructions that Ho grips are not allowed in this thread.
The more you can make something look like it's made from a 1970's bowling ball the more he'll like it. Lol

I just bought a pile of grips sort of like this...all for J frames and all made by Jay Scott. Bought this set below from @g-dad. Liked it so much that I bought another identical set, and then 4 more NOS on eBay in different colors. Don't have time to take any more photos until this weekend.

Incidentally, been carrying this one for the last 2 days. Hard to beat an older Model 60.

Funny. You think about something and it happens.
My carpenter buddies are in the process of demo-ing an old house in Asheville.
Apparently the old man that lived there was a gun guy. Amongst all the stuff left behind were some stock K woodies.
So I put them on my uber-pristine 10-6, admittedly a safe queen since I have a shooter 10-6 too.
Before-

After-
KFG 003 .21.jpg

And all is right with the world.

How much ya want for the "before" stocks?
I'm-a gonna hold onto those John. I have other K's they would fit and always on the look-see for K frames too.
Plus my Dad gave me that M10 about 100 years ago. Honestly, they're too small for even small hands. About the only thing (I think) they're good for is the look.

I agree. Those are the original grips.
That gun won't be sold though. That was one of the first guns Dad had given to me, it was his back up service revolver and never got holstered. When my days expire it will go to my oldest Nephew as Grandpa's gun.

I wish it were possible to change the grip frames themselves. I have a 19-3 with the squared butt. I'd love to have one with a round butt, but I doubt they made it with 4" barrel, adjustable sights, and target hammer.

Google Rogers grips. Please, sit down and gaze away. An hour's worth of drooling. He just made me a matched set for 2 3 inch Ks I'm having engraved. You will notice on the first page his motto....when looks matter.
