Anyone who's shot 22s for a while knows that some guns like brand X better than brand Y.

I bought some subsonic Eley ammunition that was FS here a week or so back, and brought it with me to the range to try in my Walther P22 plinker and a .22 can.

I tossed in a box of CCI Std Vel just for grins too.

I was really happy with the Eley. 100% function , no jam, FTE, perfect and quiet. I then picked up the box of CCI 22 Std Vel and had 100% fail. Every Single Round stovepiped.

The Walther could certainly stand a cleaning, as I shoot it a lot suppressed but I've never had such a lopsided function comparison as this one.

Eley Contact - 100%

CCI Standard Veliocity - 0%

YMMV.

The Walther P22 was the worst gun I ever owned for failures. Picky as hell with ammo. It was my first purchase after moving here from CA. The only good thing about that gun was that I got a lot of practice on clearing issues for a few years.

Only other major issue I’ve ever had with a gun was due to some Walmart MaxxTech ammo that wouldn’t shoot in a CZ. Only ammo that has ever given me issues In any CZ.

small semi-auto 22s.... some like it hot, some like it Standard. I've got an Iver Johnson TP22 (copy of a Walther) that likes both hot and standard, but only from certain manufacturers.

This may or may not help with your issue…

I was shooting my M&P22 (which is actually a Walther under the hood) one day. It had been 100% reliable and began having feeding and ejecting issues. During the subsequent cleaning, I changed from grease to oil on the rails; the logic being maybe some ammo didn’t have enough umph to overcome the grease’s viscosity. In that case, problem solved. Try a deep cleaning and oiling.
