Let'd discuss 3D printers! I know about . . that much! LOL

I've watched countless hours of youtube videos in the last few days. If money wasn't an issue, I find the Prusa i3 the best overall. But the mk3 is just coming out and the kit is $749 for the kit or $599 for the mk2 kit.

The next pretty awesome printer that I've found is the Tevo Tornado and you can get one for about 3 bills. Much more affordable and it has a HUGE (trump voice) printing envelope!

I know @htperry has an Omni Tech and I need to research those.

And where did you buy your Anet A8 from?

I'm seeing it and a Geeetech on AliExpress from $175-$220!! Looks like the Geetech may be better as it's a metal frame versus acrylic...from reading online

I'm including the upgrades I did. I put a mosfet on the bed and one on the nozzle. I also put a 40watt nozzle element and had a 450watt pc power supply I user for the two heating elements. I only paid $200 for the actual printer.

I bought myself the CR-10S through Gearbest for $460. It took a month to arrive but it's a Christmas present to myself so no big deal. That said, I haven't set it up yet but I'm very excited to started playing around.

You can find great deals through Gearbest (saved $140) but their CS is nonexistent and shipping is about as slow as you could ever imagine.

Thanks to YOU, I'm $150 lighter in the wallet! LOL

Ordered an Anet A8 from Gearbest tonight. I had to call my CC company as they thought it was fraud....but finally got it paid for before the flash sale ended! $150 bucks for an A8 with shipping AND insurance is something I couldn't pass up. This will be a cheap way to see if I like 3D printing and a good starter printer. I'm sure I will as well as my kids!

Now for the mods.....what say ye? @Goofyfoot2001

umm...Did you have any trouble with your shipment? My "tracking number" with fed ex shows "Label Created" but when I log into my GearBest account it shows shipped. I even did a ticket and they replied it has shipped. I'm just not getting a warm and fuzzy with the way the tracking number isn't really tracking anything.
I know its gonna take awhile coming from China and with Christmas traffic....but the tracking number should be accurate!

I've bought stuff from China in the past and using that experience along with what I've read of people's Gearbest experience order CR-10's, I tried to forget about it until A)it hit the states or B)we were approaching 30 days which would be the limit for making a paypal or cc claim (I believe). Mine hit Alabama after like 20 days but wasn't moving for the next 4. I sent GB a message saying that I'm concerned about the lack of movement and for my own protection will have to file a chargeback claim with PP and my cc if I don't receive it by day 30. They responded some nonsensical "it's in the US and should ship soon, sorry for the delay", but it departed AL 2 days later and was at my house on day 29 or 30.

Tracking before it hits the US is less useful than USPS tracking, which blows.
 
Btw anyone looking for deals on the CR-10S, lightinthebox keeps putting it on sale for like $350'ish. I did a price match with my CC to get $78 back.
 
Yeah...but light in the box shipping is utterly ridiculous! That's why I bought it at gearbest, plus you had a positive experience.
