What do you wish you had bought back when it was still available?

For me it's some of the VEPR rifles that were imported from the land of bears and vodka a few years back, there were some gorgeous looking models with nice wood stocks. They were not cheap back then but now they are simply gone and no more coming.

I remember seeing a wall full of those in Sovereign Arms in Fuquay....and not getting one or three... :-(

it would’ve had to have been my dad, since I was 10…but a couple of Colt M16s in ‘84-‘85 would’ve been nice.

surplus rifles sold at Roses for ~$19.
yes, $19 plus tax.

I carried a RPK (NHM91) out of the one in Zebulon for $149. No box, so I just carried it on my shoulder out the door. Prob the late 90's. Still have it, and it's a great gun.

I really regret not getting a Suomi and a Sterling when they were being sold all over CDNN and Classic Arms for $400. I know they're both kind of stupid in semi and the Suomi is big and heavy, but they're super cool and now all that's left is bottom of the barrel parts kits.

Pretty much everything I wanted 'back then' I bought. I do wish I had bought one of the L42s that Navy Arms was advertising for $800 but we had just had our fourth child and money was tight. Oh, and one of the red nine Broomhandles that Century was selling too.

Semi-auto M60 for $1800 in the early 90's - as advertised in the Shotgun News.

A beautifully restored mosin nagant for $99 (with scope!!). About 10-12yrs ago at the Ladson gun show.

And that buxom, curvy redhead that smiled lustfully at me during a party in college. (or maybe it was the vodka shooters I was doing that clouded my perception)

Honestly, not a single thing. If I saw it and Really wanted it, I bought it.....you all I wishes of things you had bought...I have regrets of things I sold.
I sold a 64 Impala SS409 in the early 70’s for 400 bucks. Hey it needed $200 in front end work! I’ve owned 12-14 BB Impala SS’s. Damn I wish I still had a couple.

HK P7 and a Colt Python
They were supposed to be mine, but went MIA prior to the last breaths being drawn by great grandfather. Know where they went, but family being family prevented the feud that should have started. Now that person has shuffled off too and the things missing never materialized according to those who went through her effects. Yeah, right.

I was concerned something similar would happen with my Dad's 1950's Belgium Browning Auto 5. I knew if my oldest bro got a hold of it, it would have been sold for pennies on the dollar before the dirt was put over the casket. It was willed to me and now another brother has it locked away in a safe. An heirloom now secured for the family.

Listen here Mr. Rockefeller, you had to have the cabbage to buy it to start with. Some of us waited till our 50's to get smart. 🤣🤣

God's honest truth, in 1983, my Mama calls and says "I bought you a car", (I was 14 living with MawMaw cause Pawpaw had passed). She brought it down from VA, and I promptly told her "I don't want that shit, I need a four wheel drive truck"! Sold it and got a 4x4 S10. All original 1967 Camaro RS convertible, hideaway headlights even worked.

4” .45 Colt/.45 ACP Ruger Redhawk.
Any .45 Colt Redhawk!

Simple man,as Clint said , Every man has to know his limitations.Like Billy when I got a job at 14 I started saving money. I grew up without a pot to pee in. My grandmother made my shirts and I got 2 pair of jeans for the whole school year. After I started working I swore I would never have to wear homemade shirts . I remember buying a Indian madras shirt like everyone else was wearing . When I turned 21 I bought my first gun, still have it and I never missed a year buying atleast one or 5 or however many I wanted. No mine aren't as pricey as @BatteryOaksBilly but they're mine . My Grand Mother always said never put off till tomorrow what you want to do today. If I wanted something I bought it. Still today , I'm not going to change. I buy what I want when I can find it .

Hey, I'm in no way being condescending. I went to work at 14. At 15, I bought a six pack of beer and touched a real boobie. It took 30 years for me to get my priorities in order is what I meant.

I should have bought every Russian SKS I could afford when the like-new ones were $85 at gun shows in the '70s.

I should have bought HK P7s when they were selling for ~$500 in 2008 (when real estate and financial investments were tanking).

Id have liked another CMP carbine to mess around with. I love the underwood I have but I'd really like a junker to put a dot sight on and mess with. Also should have ordered all of the cheap 30-06 from the cmp that I could afford. Have quite a bit but boy was the getting good at that time. Also would have picked up one of those 1903A4 sniper clones that were around 1k (actually may have even been less if I remember correctly). Maybe even an ak when they were around 300. Not an AK guy but wouldn't mind adding one to the collection for cheap. At today's prices it's literally at the bottom of the want list. I came of age around 2005 and was able to take advantage of a lot of deals but also missed out on a lot being young and broke.

20 or so years ago a friend knew a guy selling some guns from his collection. One was a colt gold cup national match commander in factory high polished stainless. It was new in box and he wanted 650. I only had 600. I tried and tried to get him to come down. He wouldn't. Buddy bought it and found out it was a rarer one with an early serial number. He eventually sold it for 1500. Everytime i see him, he reminds me of it.

Wish I bought more than one 100$ NIB Norinco SKS, and also picked up some 300$ SAR-1 AKs..wish I stock piled 1k wolf x39 for 65 bucks.. while the late 90s wasnt the 80s with cheap stuff, it was awesome by todays standards.

Last few I wish I grabbed were both at a gunshow in Portland before we moved here 7 years ago. My better half said no guns this trip, were moving..blah blah blah..

600$ SVT-40, and a Gewehr 43 in excellent condition, I think tag was 1200$.. funny enough the weekend after the gunshow I'm at the range and this russian dude who was always there shooting Mosins pulls out a svt40. I mentioned the gun show one I saw, and he goes "the one in the back corner?" ..turns out I was now looking at the same one...he bought it after I saw it.

I’d like to have another no dash 4” 586, and a 56-1S underfolder again.

There was a FN SLP set up for 3 gun that has made a very good skeet gun for a buddy of mine, I made the mistake of handing it to him at FG&G and off he went to the register.

Colt detective special for $175 in a pawn shop. Another that belonged to a retired cop friend; before I knew he was selling it he agreed to sell it to a gunshop for $300; he still had it and I told him I'd give him the cash on the spot but he said no, he'd shaken on the deal. Respect his integrity but wish I had known he was selling.

Ruger Blackhawk combo .45 colt/.45 acp...
LE tradin glock 21 with laser guide rod holster and 4 mags...

A crate or two of the Yugoslavia sks rifles AIM had in the crates for 79.95...

Loads of c&r stuff I figured I would get around to....

I sold my Les Baer Thunder Ranch to a fellow forum member a few years back. That’s the only gun I have ever regretted selling. So I made amends by buying 2 new Les Baer’s earlier this year. I feel much better now.

For what it is worth my new Les Baer UTC may be the finest, and most beloved gun I own. It’s early yet, but it has had a great start. I had a buddy shoot it, and he said this gun just feels different. And it shoots great. He’d never shot a 45 in his life and tore up the center of the target. Mostly good shooting, but a 1911 in in a nearly perfect form is a fine machine.
