The Self-Cloning Longhorned Tick Has Been Found in NC

I could post a pic of my first tick of 2018... but didn't want this to get moved into the Basement and have to deal with the years of being compared to the "Wartch" Thread.

I think a good fire is what is needed.. and I will rant what I normally do about bad forestry management or the inability to do what nature did hundreds of years ago. WE need regular fires to burn off these infestations. Just like they are having in Cali right now.. they had in the 1980's... Even then they knew that they were not allowing the floor of the forest to burn off and all the fallings were building feet deep and was too much fuel.

Now they are back with 35 years of the same and again nothing man can do but watch. Bet there won't be a tick in that place when it's over.

I found a tick on Happy a couple weeks ago. Guess we didn't do his anti-flea/tick stuff when we should have (read: my wife didn't and I assumed she did.)
He wouldn't sit still for me to get the bugger off...so I misted him down with my permethrin spray, gave him a full-body massage, and let it go.
Next day the tick wasn't there. Found the b*stard on Happy's bed. Quite dead.
We spray the pooch's bed with permethrin.

When I was a kid we lived in the woods all summer and I don't remember ever seeing a tick or have one on me.

That's because you didn't wash.

You probably didn't have many close neighbors, either...

:D

Yes, I do that too...but I'm the ONLY one who does it.

Why? Because such matters fall under the "evil, dangerous chemicals" category which I'm forbidden to use. There are some things which are explicitly forbidden for me to use, and the way I get around this is by malicious compliance with my wife's instructions...and not getting caught.

If it's not something she's told me I CAN'T use, then I don't ask her nor do I let her see me using it. Permethrin is one of those things she's not told me I can't use...and I don't give her an excuse to forbid its use because I don't let her see me using it.

Happy's bedding hadn't been sprayed down by me for a while because my work takes me away from home. That's the only reason he had that darn tick. But he's all good now!
