There's a whole lotta shakin' going on!

There was a 7.0 in Charleston in 1886. Effects were felt up into NC. The chimney on a family home place outside Fayetteville was standing off from the house about six inches after the event.

You’re a bit distant, but all day yesterday the dog was out of sorts and on hyper alert. I said to my wife, maybe there’s going to be an earthquake.

Her behavior reminded me, though to a more mild extent, of how the dogs acted the morning before a 5.0 quake in NE Ohio back when I was in middle school. That was a freaky event that I don’t care to experience again. CMU walls and pillars aren’t meant to wave like soft putty.

puppy was being a monster all day and wouldn't settle down. maybe he knew from way up here in fayetteville?
Also, at about 9pm, a couple hours before your earthquake, i asked my wife if she didn't want to rearrange the bedroom because so much is open unused space. she said growing up in california taught her not to put her head near window glass or anything heavy. that settled that discussion.

My wife's Dobie was being especially irritating yesterday. Pacing, whining, etc. I even commented to my wife that her dog was getting on my nerves.

Hmm.

Still more shakin’ going on!

Just had another one 5 minutes ago. I was just getting ready to head for bed. This one a a little smaller than the last one. This is getting old.

This has probably been posted in other threads, but it’s worth watching. Shorty story, Jamie wanted to travel to Nepal but the family didn’t and she went alone. While there, the big one hit Nepal. While she doesn’t capture the big quake there is plenty of footage of the aftershocks and the story of how she managed day to day, cut off from the family in a foreign country, before finally getting out and back home. She thought she might have to hike on foot to India.

Last night's shaker was a 2.9!

We live in N Raleigh.
Does this mean we will be living on oceanfront property soon?

BTW. our daughter near Oakland Callifunny just bought (lives in) a 34 ft sailboat
She says that she can just sail back to the US when California slides into the ocean.
