This can’t be good.

Sounds like vampires are in charge.

It reminds me of when the "good idea fairy" visits you guys.

The difference is, he can afford to put the idea into action.

So they're planning to shoot Tums into the sky to combat global warming... Ok... Knock yourself out...

BG is a smart guy with the resources and influence to do stuff. This is an example of his system: test out ideas on a small scale to see if they work.

Our seems to be: see idea, drag knuckles, hate idea. Complain on internet. How's that working?

Seriously, it’s not like the reduced solar activity is a big secret. These people need to be put down to save the universe. They don’t know when to stop, or have any ethical standards,
They want to be God. Sorry to tell them but that job is taken and there will be no turnover in that job.

PS. Don't piss off the creator. He has been know to rain fire down from above on us mere mortals.

Yep and we will be the collateral damage. Dumb asses.

Did you guys read the article? So puff 100grams of calcium carbonate powder into the stratosphere and watch how it disperses. That’s all. No measure of impact or effectiveness, just a few balloons and a few Kg of powder. The cost for this little test, $3mm.

Maybe the goal is to determine the needed density and capacity of such devices to deliver a theoretical reduction in temp, but the baseline for that is already established at ~20mm tons yields a ~.5*C reduction for one year. Assuming the test balloon carries 100lbs of powder someone would need to launch 4trillion balloons each year to achieve this level of impact.

Bill has some serious money, but not that much. This is a pure science experiment.

You could load 200 lbs on every aircraft taking off and have them disperse it automatically when they got to cruising altitude. How many flights a DAY are over the US at any time? Contrails anyone?

This is how the sky turned dark in the Matrix movies lol.

There are about 45,000 commercial flights per day, or 16mm per year, so you’d need each plane to dispense a little more than a ton per flight...we’re gonna need bigger planes!

Does this mean I can lower my cooling costs by dumping a few bottles of tums on top of my roof?

1-3 good volcanic eruptions this would be a moot point; probably cheaper to trigger them than this plan tbh.

Oh awesome. This from the son of William H. Gates Sr. He had some great ideas too!

Some winners are the ones he and Margaret Sanger came up with a while back. They're saving the earth, one abortion at a time.
