858E2335-9933-4747-9CA8-09C7DFA42FE0.jpeg I recently re-acquired a 2000-vintage Springfield 1911. In the intervening time, Bubba has been working on it. Neither the thumb safety nor grip safety do what they’re supposed to do any more. Any TIG welders here that can add a little metal back to the contact surfaces of these steel parts?

I’ll include a picture of the gun for visual interest. John McKenzie, from Carthage, hand checkered the frontstrap. Highly recommend him. I would only need the welding done. I’ll refit the parts to the gun. Thanks

I’ve called a few shops. As soon as they hear ‘gun part’ they’re suddenly not interested. Thought I’d check here before ordering new parts to fit. This thumb safety’s already blended to the frame. Would prefer to re-use. I’ll work something out. Thanks

I hope I am wrong but AFAIK once you weld the part you cannot reblue the welded area.
