Honestly, I'd pick up a used Genesis off Craigslist and restore it then spend all the mones I saved on other cook gadgets. My '96 Genesis wI'll cook with the best of the modern gas grills.

Not much to choose from in my area right now. If nothing pops up soon I'll probably just pick up the genesis while it's on sale.

Wahoo95 is right. If you can find a used one, pick it up. Parts availability for Weber grills is great. $100 off a new one ain't bad. Not many cut rate deals on Weber stuff.

I agree with the above. It would be sweet to find an old one to restore. That being said, I am not so impressed with the 2 burner Spirit. My mom has one. I really like my 3 burner Spirit. It's a totally different beast. Just my $0.2

I have a three burner Genesis natural gas grill that is a couple years old. It replaced a 10 or 11 year old genesis model B 2 burner that I took up to the family mountain house. Really can't go wrong with Weber. Only reason I bought a new one is I needed a grill in the mountains and wanted to change over to natural gas at home.

Did this under Wahoo's tutelage. Bought a Genesis off Craigslist for $40. I have $300 in it now and it's like new. I'd post pics if I wasn't an idiot.

I won't comment. ;)

TH, check Craigslist for an old 3 burner Genesis in decent shape. You'll myost likely need to replace the burners, grates, and flavorizor bars all of which can be found online and in stainess steel. Clean it up and repaint the black parts whereas the lid can be polished to look like new. You'll be left with a top notch gasser that will bring joy to your life.

I think I found one. Will be looking at it in person soon.

Anything in particular to look for?

Where is the best place to get the parts?

I got lucky with my $40 Genesis find. I touched up the black trim, cleaned it out, replaced the flavorizer bars and grates with stainless steel and was good to go. I could have used the cast iron grates, but I was interested in SS, and Wahoo being the grillmaster that he is, took the cast iron grates off my hands.

That's a Genesis like Wahoo95 was talking about. That pic is taken right after I finished refurbing it two years ago. Bought for $40 on Craigslist exactly like he suggested. I think I found the heavy duty SS flavorizer bars on eBay, and the heavier than stock SS grates on ebay or Amazon. I can't remember. Burner did not need to be replaced.

They key is to find the used grill first. The parts weren't hard to find. There are vendors of aftermarket parts as well, that are extremely sturdy.

I ended picking up a new genesis. Believe I'll edit this thread so yall can keep posting sweet grills & rebuilds.

Just got it, it will need a little love. He even gave me a full bottle of propane to go with it. I am going to start looking for parts this weekend.

I can't see it. Your pictures must not have loaded. You did post pictures, didn't you?;)
