Racheting wrenches.
Klein wire tools.
Knipex pliers, specially the Cobras and my 22" set most of all.
Love my Knipex stuff, I use my 6" Cobras a bunch but my smooth jaws (KX8603125) get a pretty good workout. They are awesome for AR roll pins and will also function like an adjustable wrench around the house in a pinch without marring the hardware.

And for me, side by side with the Klien are Greenlee wire tools, 1916-SS stainless stripper/cutter have lasted me 3 times longer than any other pair of strippers I have ever owned.

I was just going to post this tool when I saw your thread title...but you opened the thread with it!

I have two of these. FANTASTIC tools!

Save your used wood blades...you know, the ones that invariably end up missing a few teeth eventually? They're perfect drywall blades.

I just found out plaster walls in old houses are death on the blades for these. My son and I just removed a single gang box receptacle and put in a 4 gang box where our new flat screen TV is. (I hate having to use power strips.) I went through four blades cutting the hole for that. Hacksaw blades lasted the longest, but still got ate up.

I gave my wife the Fein Multimaster for Christmas about 10 years ago, it's what the Rockwell is based on. Anyway, they make a blade with embedded carbide chips that I'm sure would cut plaster like butter. Probably not available at the big box stores.

I oughta look for carbide blades. Never gave a thought to them. They'd work great on masonary.

I've seen these things at the Big Box stores but never had a clue as to what they're useful for. I recall something like "getting putty out of window frames"--- Putty?

So, what are they really useful for? I've never met a tool I don't like, but clue me in...what are they good for?

If you used one a time or two, the question would be "what would I NOT use this for?"

Yeah, I could see puddy removal.

It's invaluable for cutting/trimming moulding in place, without having to remove it.

If you've ever had to cut hung drywall for ANYTHING, this tool makes it as simple, precise, and easy as it gets.

I made an 8 foot tall scale replica of the Eifel Tower for my wife, and this made short work of all the trimming I needed to do.

Ever do remodeling and run across 16 penny nails bent over in places you just can't get to to pull, but they're in the way? Cut 'em right off with a hacksaw blade.

We need a thread on tools that you would not want to be without.

One thing YOU NEED even if you do not realize it is a Rockwell Sonicrafter (or similar).

These tools do things no other tool can. I use one at work almost daily and the one at home gets used regularly too.

Once you have one and start using it you will wonder how you got along without it.

There aren't many other (any other?) power saws that will flush cut. Like taking off the bottom of a door jamb flush with a piece of new flooring.

Besides the pocket leatherman, flashlight, and Spyderco, the cordless drill/driver is used the most. When all my 12V dewalt batteries finally died, I got a bunch of Milwaukee M12 and M18 tools and they rock. The little 12v hammer drill driver can do nearly anything, and the 18v is even better. Plus another ~8 tools for those batteries. I hardly use corded tools other than the drill press any more.

Same here. Don't know how I ever worked without one. Only complaint is the blades cost a fortune.
Nah harbor freight is a rip off too... Amazon... About $2.50 each...

My Makita 18v impact is maybe the biggest game changer tool of the last decade. Second would be the matching cordless oscillating tool...

Hard to beat the usefulness of a pair of Klein side cutters and a 10-in-1 though...

I picked up a Dewalt hammer drill and impact driver as well as their jig saw last year. That impact driver is crazy handy. 4" deck screws are like butter. I don't know the last time I've touched a hammer. I highly recommend their cordless jig saw. Best jig saw I have ever used.

1 my dremmel too. Before I bought one, a fellow on a gun board told me that once you get one, you won't understand how you lived without it. He was right. I don't use it every day, but I'm always finding a use for it. Just be careful! As a previous poster said, when you first get one, the desire to grind on a gun can be high!

2. Klien linesmans pliers. Best wire cutting pliers I've ever owned. They come in handy for a lot of things.

3. Ratcheting screwdrivers. I have several, but my favorite is a Stanley FatMax. For chores around the house, Its quickly become my favorite screwdriver.

4. Another favorite of mine, is a small tabletop bench vice. I've got 2 big ones, but for small projects, I have a tiny little 2.5" clamp-on vice. It gets used for something almost every time I'm i the shop.

Admittedly, I am a tool junky..... machining, metal working and welding, woodworking, farm equipment, heavy equipment, construction equipment, automotive equipment, you name it - I like it.

If I were to list all of the tools that I love it would be a long post!

Dooo it. Pics mandatory:cool:

Heck I am a tool whore. The only tools I don't like are cheap ones. I want the best period, I have been hurt too many times by cheap tools or had projects damaged or ruined.

Clamps, small ones, big ones, one handed, screw type, pipe clamps. I had to hold everything for my Dad growing up, got nobody to hold stuff for me anymore.
Hold stuff so I can cut, nail, paint, let glue dry, you name it.
Also, to cut sheetrock for electrical boxes, I chuck a 1/8" bit in my demrel and go at it.
