The bar to disengage transmission is not attached anywhere or visible. Gone or did not have one?

A few hits with the impact on the loosey side should do it. If not soak it in some penetratring spray. After that if it is liquid it can't be tight!

The blade nut doesn't turn at all or the blade spins with it?

I assumed you blocked the blade.

24mm wrench with a cheater bar and kroil penetrator is a no go. Blades have never been off by previuos owner. They have large chunks missing off the blades but yet they have no obstacles or rocks in there yard. I ordered a Ridgid 1/2” 1500 lb impact just now from Home Depot. I need to order some impact socket also.

I did not see a transmission disengage pull bar listed for this mower. I will assume the back plate in universal from MTD but somehow you can push the mower. I just got it to take to Aberdeen for my other daughter. I plugged my yard with it at hands and knees crawl speed. The pedal does not go slow to high speed. Only stop and go.

I put a c clamp on the deck and pulled like heck with 12” more inches of cheater.

Well you may be looking at replacing the spindles then

Use a block of wood to anchor blade from spinning , blade nut is definitely counterclockwise to loosen. A robust impact ratchet will work better. Your cheater bar is applying steady pressure , the impact will hammer it
Transmission disconnect may be off but the detent will be on the front side of the transaxle - pushing it in will allow the hydrostatic transmission to “free wheel” it wont be easy but you will be able to roll it

You may also want to check the transmission belt - if your mower goes really slow this could be due to the belt slipping. Check the belt to make sure it is reasonably tight , it should have a tension spring on an idler pulley , often this is also connected to the clutch/ brake. When you push the clutch /brake in , the belt loosens, when you release the clutch everything should spring back - often this gets rusty and stuck from sitting

I’m not a lawn mover guy but isn’t that the thing to “Free” the transmission so it can roll?
Yes but apparantly this one does not have one, just the opening for all mowers as they all are made by MTD except Husquavana.

I’ll wait on the freaking $300 impact plus $60 worth of sockets. This is why a man needs no grass.

Fun day off for sure. Tires would not pump up on my never used Northern Tool Strongway grass plugger until I roped them and twisted with a broom handle. Knocked the damn trailer light off the mower was on. Spun the yard up with this piece of crap mower trying to climb a hill. Yards suck. Can’t wait to get this piece of shit out of the garage. This is why I bought a commercial John Deere stand on mower.

Did I mention the battery was 4.5 years old and had to buy a new one to get it to start. Battery was another $70.

Ordering belts now. I’m not going to Aberdeen, NC to work on this bitch again. I shouldn’t have more than $650 to service it counting the impact wrench, sockets, 3 belts, oil, blades, and battery. $300 mower turned into a grand.

You might have to heat the nuts to remove them. I'd start soaking them with penetrating oil while you're waiting on the impact though. I've never seen a mower with anything other than right hand threads on the blade bolts.

Best of success to you.

They are sprayed heavily currently. Son in law has zero skills with tools. They just use, abuse, and buy new. Luckily Amazon is cheaper than running all over town to get parts. Time is money. Mid week I will have all my backlog completely done. I need to learn some mower skills so I can do all the kids BS when my wife mentions daddy’s services for free again.

Which model Toro do you have and how old is it?

Ain’t it great when you get Voluntold by the wife!? Mine keeps telling me “ You need to do this for him, you need to do that for him, you need to…” My thoughts, he’s 31 years old, I don’t need to do crap for him! He’s a grown azz man!

The only thing I can add is that to get the blades off the spindle of one end of our zero turn mower was to take a torch to it.heat equals expanded metal did the trick. Sorry, to not be of more help.

We had several that took soaking with PB Blaster, next day use a propane torch on them and then the heaviest air wrench in your shop.

Thanks everyone for responding. Once again I try to do a good deed for the daughter and it cost even more in money and time. I’m pretty proud of her though. She bought a house by herself this year and she makes very good money. Wish she was a bit closer though.

Had to work on the daughter’s heat pump I got the mower from the same day. Mowers, electrical, plumbing, hvac, appliances, trees. Seems like I never get my stuff done. Exhausting. Thei husbands can’t even change a battery.

Mower was delivered to daughter in Aberdeen. Works great and speed has increased drastically. Here comes the but- still will not run the spec speed Of 5.5 mph. Around 4. Unfortunately she is a 4’11” and cannot reach the pedals without the seat safety disengaging so next trip I have to built the pedals up with something about 4 inches. Good dead by daddy done again plus the 3 days I worked on her yard, bushes, trees, gutters, fencing, washer and dryer changeout, edging, air conditioning, and assorted task.
