Was given this Traeger Lil' Tex Pro 20 (2013 model) by the ol'lady's manager. He was going to scrap it. Was told it had a bad motor. Fired it up and did some testing. Auger/fans/hot rod all work fine. The rheostat/knob on the control panel is shot. The contact points on some settings work firmly, others just grind/crunch past as you turn the knob. Won't work on smoke or shut down at all.

Also gave me a couple full bags of Traeger pellets and the cover for it...

Parts come tomorrow. Looks like a pretty straightforward job swapping them out... Got a dual probe remote temp gauge today as well.

Then I just have to learn how to use this contraption... Lol...

Whatever parts you ordered wont fix it. Its doomed I'll come pick it up tomorrow.

Nice score

Thanks. I heard he was dumping it and jumped to claim it. Figured it would be worn out. Looks like it was barely used. From my research, the control I ordered is a popular upgrade to this unit anyway...

Got a brisket and some pork loins to test it out...

You’ll love that pellet grill. I’ve had a cheaper Pittboss just over a year, and love cooking on it. Already had to paint it due to some rust in spots and replace some bolts even though I keep it garage kept out the weather.

I don't have a good place to keep it out of the weather sadly. Hopefully it will survive with the cover until I do...

I have the “Traeger “ cover . It survives out side no problem. As long as it’s waterproof any cover is better than none.
And Pitboss pellets are half the price of Traeger's and work just as good.

I have been told the ones Walmart sells are the cheapest per pound and better quality woods too. Haven't actually looked into it yet.

Ready to rock and roll...

The new controller does away with the off switch and shut down mode. Now when you turn it off it runs through the shutdown automatically so there's no risk of forgetting.

It also has a little Smoke timer knob for adjusting the auger on/off time during smoking and idle time during cooking.
