Does anybody have a good YouTube video to explain how to start to learn and shoot a slide mounted red dot. I'm having a Deltapoint Pro installed on a Glock 34, if all goes well I plan to install a red dot on my carry gun.

There is definitely a learning curve to shooting with a red dot, but once you get it down, you won’t want to shoot any other way. When I first got mine I spent hrs doing dry-fire drill and hundreds of presentations from a holster. Start with something big like a door then after that gets easy gradually shrink down your targets until you are using a light switch or something small like that.

Pick a spot, look at it, draw and find the dot, do it a few dozen times and the dot will start to be very close to your spot. At this point or sooner, stop looking for the dot, it should appear in your FOV, remain target focused. With reps it will start showing up right on target. Then do SHO, WHO, leans and all the other unconventional positions you can come up with.

I just have a standard front sight, I ignore it, it is too low to be of any benefit.

While we're talking about these any suggestions on how to try it without dropping $250 or more. I recently picked up a MOS Glock in trade and would like to try out a RMR sight but would like something a little more budget friendly before I completely commit. Anything out there that's not junk or airsoft that can be had without breaking the bank?

I would suggest the Vortex Venom over the Viper. The Viper does have a bigger window and sits lower to the barrel (both good things) but the battery on the bottom makes it a deal breaker for me. I'm running Venoms on my PPQ, my PCC, and all of my rimfire guns - they are great little dots.

Battery on the bottom isn't a big deal. I've been on the same battery for about a year and a half. I've swapped the dot from a 4.25" m&p to a 5" m&p and didn't adjust zero at all. I did put some tape on the plate to shim the battery to prevent any flicker. My biggest issue with the viper is that it doesn't have click adjustments and the screw to lock in the adjustments is right in front of the rear sight which makes it basically obsolete. On the first gun I pushed the rear sight off to zero it.

I knew there something else I didn't like about the viper - haha. Being unable to get to those lock screws was another no-no for me.

At this point I don't think it's worth it to sell. I plan buy a 22/45 and it will end up on that and if I decide to keep a red dot on the m&p I'll pony up for a rmr

Pickup my G34 from the gunsmith today. OMG the red dot is great, practiced drawing from the holster, gun comes right up, dot is centered in the screen and on target. I'm right handed and left eye dominate, never been able to shoot with both eyes open until using the dot. Tomorrow I'm headed to range to get some live fire practice.

I bought a Fastfire III from Tim on here and I liked that RDS. I mounted it on a M&P Core. Shot really well. Wouldn't hesitate buying one of those.
