about an hour ago. Heavy, wet snow and giant old pines don’t play well together!

Lost power 2 hrs ago, tree shortly after. Initial assessment says it did not bust through the roof. We'll take a closer look in the morning.

It does raise the pucker factor to look out the bedroom window to see giant branches crammed up alongside...and realize they’re only about 18” from your pillow!

Be safe.
There are a couple leaning pines in my back yard that I am worried about.
But nothing I can do from China. Just hope they stay put.

Wow, glad youre ok Tim! Scary stuff indeed

scary. Careful of the other trees when outside looking at the fallen one. Winds will be whipping and don't want you getting shorter

Dang dude, glad you’re ok

Glad you're OK Tim. Hope that you find the damage to be superficial when you get a better look at it

After Fran I don't want any trees that will get large within 90'-100' from the house. Hopefully it's just the upper branches against your adobe.

Pucker factor was at 10x for a few moments!
Umm...
That doesn't sound good, were you in the bedroom with him? Never mind, I don't wanna know.

Wow, glad you're ok. I hoe the damage isn't too bad.

Stay warm, keep safe.

well, this SOUNDED and FELT a lot worse than it is. I’m guessing this is a 100’ tree that fell from the wood lot, across the neighbors empty lot and then onto our place. We got just the top branches. Shook the whole damn house.

Is it bad that I was rooting for a new roof?!EA7EC558-DF04-4DC1-9C4B-93FC1265D655.jpeg54D676A5-9924-4AD7-AD7F-2EDCA2F443CC.jpeg

Tim Glad no one was hurt. Like you said could have been much worse.
Take care. Phil

Not at all. lol. I've been known to have the same thoughts.
I'm surprised power is still on at my house. The lines here take some kooky routes through the woods.
How is it down in town overall? Have you seen any plow trucks?

I'm out in Etowah/Cummings Cove area. We haven't ventured out to town as of yet, but I'm able to tunnel into my office network on Main Street, so there's power downtown at least.

Willow rd has got to be a disaster. I've zipped up & down that road many a time on the motorcycle. (sorry if I woke you up )
Pops lives out there (founder of our company) but he doesn't care what happens outside, all he wants to do is watch Fox news. :D
I figure maybe you saw some plow trucks since you're not far off 64, and I'm sure Cummings Cove is 'demanding' service you-know since rear-wheel drive Mercedes's suck in the snow.

Ha! Notice I said “Cumming Cove AREA”...I’m actually off Hebron about 1/4 mile past Cummings Rd

Glad you dodged a bullet. I know from experience how it feels to hear that "whump" sound and look out your window right into the top of a tree.

Looks like pine beetles may have damaged the base of the tree. Glad that y ‘all are ok.

Glad that was just a near miss. Now you've got some food for the fire bowl.

I remember when we had 2 maples and a modest pin oak hit our house in Hurricane Fran at around midnight. When it hit, the mattress and the box spring moved separately. Hard feeling to describe, but close to an earthquake push vs the violent "jerk"car wreck. Neighbors got it worse, they had just moved back in after a chimney/attic fire and a huge 4' diameter oak crashed completely through the house and garage.
