This might not be the *best* place to post it, but around mid-March I’m wanting to take a trip with my SO for her birthday. She’s based out of Greensboro for school and I’d like to go somewhere within an hour or two of there. Bed and breakfast would be cool, especially if it had good views and possibly a nature trail or similar around, nice dining would be good too.

Anyone have any recommendations or have personally found a little gem they would like to share info on?

There are some B&B's and AirB&B's around Hanging Rock State Park. HRSP is a very cool place with some good hiking, waterfalls and fishing, and about an hour from UNC-Greensboro. On the north side of the park is Carolina Zip Lines (https://www.carolinaziplines.com/). It's really fun and unique flying through the trees. I used to take Boy Scouts there. I stayed at a house in Danbury one time, but if you get on AirBNB and search for Danbury, you'll find both private cabins and B&B's. And if you wait until summer, you can go tubing down the Dan River. And if she isn't an outdoor kind of girl, well, I guess it's better you know early.

If you or SO is intrested in winerys this one below is in Madison and it has a cabin you can rent. Its out in middle of the winery and in a very rural area. Wife and I stayed there several years ago and was decent little get away but not much else around it business wise.

This marks year number 5 stuck with her o_O Luckily she’s the kind that will go tubing in the mountains in September, so zip lining might be up her alley if they can handle my lard ass.

It looks like the Winery and Danbury are only 25 minutes apart, so we can go explore during the day and get wine’d up at night. This might be a winning combination.

Wife and I have been going there since 2005. We honeymooned there and have spent many short trips there. The ownership just changed over, but from what I can tell, the new guy hasn’t missed a beat in keeping it the same. It’s about 5 min from the Blue Ridge Parkway and a stone’s throw from a million hiking places.

Also, Stone Mountain and Carter Falls are nearby for hiking opportunities. Elkin Creek is built on the site of an old mill and they have a nice little area of waterfront to hang out in.
