I'm looking for a red dot for my newest build which is basically going to be my SHTF rifle so to speak. Realistically it'll pull duty punching steel and sitting by the bed but I'm basically going with something that will be there when/if I ever need it.

Does anyone have experience with both of these? I like the size and the known reliability of the Aimpoint. I like the slightly larger (brighter?) window and lower price of the Trijicon. Plus it's a trijicon so I'm not too concerned with the newness of it. Opinions abound elsewhere but I thought I'd see if any of the local people here that I "know" a bit more have anything to say on them.

I'm a big fan of the MRO. Both are solid optics, but I like the larger objective on the MRO and they are priced better. You can usually find one with a mount for a little less than $500.

I own both as well. MRO is the way I will be going forward as well.
A small few have complained that it is not a true 1x, as there is a slight magnification that occurs.
The T1 is on my 11.5" upper, and the MRO is on my 7.5" upper.

Thanks guys. The MRO is the way I was leaning and you've confirmed that for me.

I don't know why people complain about that as it is so minimal I don't even notice it. Trijicon lists the specs on their site as it being 1.05x magnified.

Yeah I've wondered that too. Aimpoint is 1.03 or something. The difference is too small to really see a difference between them I would think.

I think the complaints came from guys who were super brand loyal to aimpoint and wanted to hate on the "new guy" on the block.

Love my MRO in a battle arms mount. I got rid of my aim point after getting theMRO

I prefer the t2 / t1 at the end of the day, but it's hard to beat the mro in value and warranty.

I will trade you my t1 with mount for MRO with a mount anyday of the week. %100 serious. The t1 is a lesser optic from my POV. My poi doesnt change with my MRO like it does with the t1. Plus the MRO has a larger FOV.

It was the opposite for me, but a friend couldn't notice any difference between the t2 & mro. Im not brand loyal and I wanted to like the mro better...
It would be best if OP could compare both side by side.

To me, it's a no brainer. They are equal as far as quality goes but the MRO is at a much better price. Even if they were priced exactly the same, I would still choose the MRO; the larger FOV gives it the upper hand IMO.
